#35: Gakuen Alice (Natsume & Mikan)

They had been standing in the shade of the only big tree in the front yard for a while now. "Mikan?"
A sad smile appeared on her lips. "I remember."
"…"
After closing her eyes momentarily, she turned to him. "Thanks for your help, Natsume. I really appreciate it."
He wanted to leave, but his feet remained rooted to the ground. Softly, he inquired, "Aren't you going back to your own body?"
She looked down at her feet. "I don't think so. Once I woke up, my parents are going to force me to marry a stranger. I overheard their conversation that day, and I ran away blindly before everything went black. Honestly, I have no idea how I ended up at your place in Tokyo after being in a coma for so long."
His entire being suddenly froze. For some strange reason, he didn't like what he heard. Why? An arranged marriage was almost a practice if you came from a wealthy family. She was, after all, a young mistress, so it was obvious that she, too, would be married off. Eyebrows slightly knitted, he tried to name the feelings he experienced. Could it be that he… liked her?
So, an unanswered question arises. Nice :)

ReplyDeleteAn arranged marriage. Hmph. I've seen one or two before, and I'm strongly against them. Anyway, I hope the stranger that Mikan is supposed to marry isn't... someone familiar to Natsume in canon. Haha. Maybe she ended up in Tokyo because she's been crushing on Natsume from afar? But then again... shouldn't she memorize that bit?
