#13: Inuyasha (Sesshōmaru & Kagome)
Prompt: Rain Rain Go Away
Prompt: Rain Rain Go Away
...Pain, pain, go away...
She hoped her pain of being second best would be washed away, just like the rain.
Once again, he had to say things that he knew would hurt her. Couldn’t he stop comparing her to his beloved Kikyō?
It was not like she was asked to be dragged into the well.
It was not like she wanted to be her reincarnation.
It was not her plan to break the Shikon Jewel into million pieces.
And it was not her plan to lose her aim! That was what their argument brought on. They were attacked by a snake youkai with a shikon shard on their way back to Edo, and as usual, the demon had demanded her shards. She had wanted to help by firing her sacred arrow, but unfortunately for her, she lost her footing because of the shaking ground, and thus, sent the arrow whizzing dangerously close to him, almost purifying him.
Sango, who couldn’t hear anymore words of insult to her sister figure, defended her by saying it was not her fault that the ground suddenly shook. Even a warrior’s stance would falter at the sudden move. Miroku wisely pointed out that even if the arrow almost purified their hanyou friend, it did go for the intended target as the snake was purified immediately, and they recovered another shard. That successfully shut Inuyasha up. Of course, Inuyasha didn’t pass up the opportunity to say one last thing...
“Kikyō is a much better archer than you.”
Before either of them could retort back, Inuyasha had bounded off.
It hurt. She knew how he felt about Kikyō, but it didn’t make it any less painful. After they settled down back at Edo, she left to clear her mind, and thankfully, no one tried to stop her. Not long afterwards, here she was, standing under the pouring rain, hoping her pain and silent tears would be washed away.
