#01: Gakuen Alice (Natsume & Mikan)

That Hyuuga skipped class. He didn't come back after lunch. How annoying! Mikan thought irritably as she prepared things for the coming mission. She frowned. Why am I thinking about him? She let out a low sigh and zipped her bag pack. Better concentrate on my mission.
"Be careful, Onee-chan," You-chan said softly and hugged her legs.
"I will." She patted his little head. Kneeling down, she hugged him. "Onee-chan will be back safe with Nii-san and Aki-kun."
"We'll wait here for you," Hotaru said emotionlessly while placing her hands on Youichi's little shoulders.
Mikan stood up. "I'm leaving."
"Have a safe trip, Onee-chan," Youichi bid while waving his little arms.
Before teleporting to the Northern Forest, she smiled at him.
"Nii-san," Mikan greeted as soon as she saw her older brother. She hugged him, which was returned instantly. "Aki-kun's joining us, he should be—"
"I'm here! … Sorry, Persona nii-san… I'm sorry for being late," Akira apologised while panting hard. He laid one hand on his chest. My time is running out. I need to find a replacement.
Persona narrowed his eyes slightly before replying, "It's okay. Are you ready now?"
Akira straightened and nodded. "Yes, I am."
"Good," Persona began while trusting a piece of shrivelled paper or a map into their hands. "There are three flights of stairs before we get to Aoi."
"You and I will handle the first and second level," Persona said to Akira. He then turned to Mikan. "You will handle the third level and get Aoi back. Understand?"
Akira and Mikan replied in unison, "Understood."
They all exchanged nods before Persona declared, "Good. Mission starts now."
As soon they reached the specific warehouse, Mikan quickly scanned it using her Alice. There are a lot of guards here…
Hurry up, Mikan, she told herself and activated her Invisibility Alice, running with light steps towards the third floor. When she arrived there, she activated her Illusion Alice. Her lips tugged upward as the Alice was, at last, in use for something good. Illusion Alice can be handy at a time. She then activated her Auditory Alice to search for Aoi. After a moment, she smiled. Got it! Second room to the left…
"I wonder why…" her voice trailed with her eyes fixed on another room, which was right beside the stated room. I feel a familiar presence on the other room. Who can that be? She shook her head mentally before walking into the dimmed room. Her almost silent footsteps seemed to alert the person in the room.
"Please don't kill me …" a little girl begged, which she knew at once belonged to Aoi.
"I'll do anything you say…" Her voice was shaking with fear.
Mikan knew Aoi was crying. She slowly approached the crying girl. How long has she stayed in this room?
There were only barely glow streams of moonlight from a high window shone down upon the girl. Mikan gently called out, "Aoi-chan?"
"Who's there?" Her voice cracked as she stared out at the darkness. Her crimson eyes violently searched in fear for Mikan's unseen figure.
"I come here to save you, Aoi-chan." Mikan smiled at her and let the light shone upon her, revealing herself to the traumatised girl.
"Please don't make a sound." Mikan pressed her forefinger on her lips and activated her Invisible Alice.
"Hai, Onee-chan," Aoi mumbled, her voice was firmer than before.
Through her earpiece, Mikan informed her brother, "Onii-chan, Aoi-chan is with me now."
"We got problem here, just take her back now," the device retorted back.
Mikan understood that her brother and Akira must be fighting with the AAO still.
I don't want to leave without Nii-san and Aki-kun, Mikan said to herself as she held Aoi gently in her arms and flew out from the warehouse.
"Wait here, Aoi-chan. I need to help my brother and Aki-kun," Mikan told Aoi as she made the girl invisible and protected with Barrier Alice before going back to the warehouse.
Who is he? Mikan wondered when she saw a dark-ginger-haired guy who appeared after Persona and Akira defeated a bunch of AAO members. She read his mind and found his name is Reo.
"Well, well, well, what we have here… The beloved DA teacher, Persona-sensei and…" His voice trailed as his face wrinkled in uncertainty. "You are…"
Reo stared at Akira in revulsion. "You are new here, aren't you?"
Akira remained quiet.
Reo smirked. "Persona, you're here to save her, aren't you?"
Mikan presumed, Her? Aoi-chan?
"What are you talking about?" Persona said coldly.
"Don't act stupid. You came here to save Yuka. Too bad for you, she doesn't have the power to get up anymore." Another smirk broke on his face, and there was a sinister stain in his tone.
Mikan startled upon her mother's mentioned name. She then remembered the strange feeling that was bugging her earlier. Her hazel eyes shadowed by her bangs as Reo's voice echoed in her mind. She didn't like the sound of his tone. It worried her.
"I'll get Okaa-san, Nii-san," Mikan murmured quietly through the earpiece. She was resolute, and she needed to find her mother now!
Good. I'll draw his attention away from Mikan, Persona thought and his brains began to soak in ideas. "What have you done to her?"
Reo grinned. "Not me but the organisation. Who will think that Yuka Azumi is actually a spy from the academy? When the organisation found out about it, we tortured her to speak, but… she was too stubborn, so we left her to… die."
"Bastard!" Persona snarled though gritted teeth. His hands clenched in a fist.
"Play time is over. SAY GOODBYE TO YOUR POWER," Reo's voice echoed forebodingly in the hallway.
"Okaa-san…" she whimpered, her voice was barely heard. She was shocked, terrified, to see her mother in that condition. She was lying down on her front, her face turned sideways, her tousled auburn hair was over her face. Mikan quickly rushed to her.
"Okaa-san… Okaa-san…" she murmured as tears stream down her cheek. She held her in her arms, wishing that she would be alright again, wishing that no such abused had ever given to her, and wishing that she had never was in this stupid organisation. Please, Kami-sama… please… my mother, Kami-sama… she's hurt.
I need to get her out of here, she reminded herself and carried her mother on her back. Her mother was heavy, but no matter what, she would get her mother out, safe and sound.
"Okaa-san… just wait, I'll get us out now," she told her mother. Although her mother was unconscious, she knew she could hear her, somewhere at least through her heart. I need to get back to Aoi-chan. She teleported back to where Aoi was.
"What? Why aren't you affected?" he shouted in bewilderment. He had tried over and over again and even took off his controlling Alice device earring. To his horror, Persona and Akira stood there as though nothing had happened to them, impervious to his Alice. He stared at his men who were once beside him, talking to him, now lay unconscious on the ground due to his Alice.
Thank goodness Mi-chan put a nullification barrier around us, Akira thought gratefully.
Persona smirked. "Shirou Yuki's doing a great job."
"What?!"
Not long after Reo spoke, Persona heard Mikan's voice. "Nii-san, Okaa-san is with me now."
"I don't have time to explain to you. Goodbye…" Persona deep voice purred as mockery was in his tone. He was glad that the mission succeeded.
Akira disdainfully bid, "Until then!"
The two figures soon descended away from Reo, Akira's wind Alice swirled around them as they disappeared. Reo stood there frozen as he was utterly dumbfounded.
"Onee-chan…" Aoi called softly, consoling her. She, too, was sad to see her like that.
"Mikan, we need to head back now," Persona said and carefully carried the woman in his arms, hoping that she was alright. Yuka was his mother, after all.
Mikan stood up at once and teleported all of them back to the Alice Academy ground. As soon as they safely returned to the school, she reached out to her mother again. "Okaa-san…"
However, just right before she could touch her, she collapsed and was thrown into unconsciousness. Misery took her there.
"Mikan… Mikan… Mikan!" Akira shook her to wake her up, but it was no use.
"Hospital," Persona said at once.
Akira gave a quick nod and carried her bridal style.
Please be okay, Mikan, Akira thought worriedly as they rushed to the hospital. Please be okay…

ReplyDeleteIt was a thrilling chapter, but not enough action. It's good that Mikan, Persona, and Aki had managed to save Yuka and Aoi both. It would be a good ending, but Yuka was tortured by the AAO. They are no good. I hope Yuka-sama will be all right. Mikan also had used up her Alice, which is why she fainted. My, this is serious. Aki has the 4th shape Alice, right? No... He's going to die? He's such a nice character.
