My Favourite Girl: Chapter 5

#05: Gakuen Alice (Natsume & Mikan)

Natsume stood frozen, unable to move or say a word after being caught-handed by his favourite girl.

After a long silence that seemed like eternity, Mikan unemotionally said, "I have known your identity since the first time you set your feet on my balcony. I don't have any intention to continue playing your little game, Hyuuga-san."

When he was about to say something, she interrupted, "Don't worry, I won't tell anyone about this."

With that said, she left him alone.

Natsume was speechless as he returned to his own room. He was rejected directly to his face. Well, not that he had confessed anything about his feelings, but he felt so defeated even before the war to win her heart had begun. Just when he decided to go to his sakura tree to calm down, he was shocked for the second time. Mikan, without using any of her usual disguises, was on her way to the school with her two best friends. He could only curse under his breath when he saw almost all the boys from high school division drooling at her. Though, he inwardly smirked when Imai’s Baka Gun sent the boys flying whenever they got too close.

It went without saying that the peaceful school was now filled with gossip about Mikan Sakura's real appearance.

Along the way to his seat, Natsume heard one comment after another about Mikan.

"I didn't know that Mikan-san would be this beautiful without her pig tails and tick glasses," one of the boys began.

His friends nodded in agreement.

Suddenly, one of them exclaimed, "No way!"

"What?" his friends asked in unison.

"She was the girl that attended the masquerade ball!"

"Now that you reminded me, she had a partner for the ball. Do you know who he is?" the first boy asked.

Unfortunately, his friends shook their heads. They didn't recognise her partner on that night.

Finally sat down, Natsume hid his proud smirk by closing his face with his manga.

"I can't believe that nerd would become this pretty without her ugly accessories," one of the girls said annoyingly, and her friends nodded in agreement.

"She must be an ugly girl but since she had Imai-san as her best friend, she might have used one of her inventions to—"

"Hey! How dare you to insult Mikan-san like that?" one of the boys interrupted the girl.

Soon enough, the boys and the girls started fighting verbally about Mikan Sakura.

Unknown to them, the real Mikan Sakura already stood in front of the classroom watching them with amusement.

The class stopped arguing when they felt their feet were frozen by a pool of ice. Natsume moved his manga to see what happened and gasped silently at the sight in front of him. It was none other than his favourite girl with her two best friends behind her.

The class didn't notice her until she emotionlessly inquired, "Care to tell me why all of you arguing about me?"

They turned to look at her. Their faces turned as white as the ice that glued their feet while the girls gulped nervously.

"They spoke ill about you, Mikan-san," one of the boys replied proudly.

The girls froze when Mikan smirked. "I see… and who might that person be?"

They had forgotten that they would be dealing with Hotaru Imai and Sumire Shouda if they messed with Mikan Sakura.

"Please forgive us, Sumire-san, Hotaru-san. We really didn't mean to talk ill about Mikan-san," one of the girls pleaded the two girls.

Hotaru shook her head dejectedly and walked towards her own seat.

Sumire, who did the same, sighed. "You apologised to the wrong person."

In count of seconds, the ice that glued the boys melted away while it remained for the girls. The boys quickly move aside as they watched what was going to happen.

Natsume didn't move from his seat since he was sitting at the back of the classroom, and the "fighting" was in the middle of the classroom.

What Alice does she actually have? Natsume wondered when he realised it was Mikan who used Ice Alice to bind the fighting group.

No words were uttered from the girls.

Mikan stared intensely at them as she calmly said, "So, continue what you are trying to say because I'd like to hear it myself. I don't like someone who talks behind my back."

Silence was her only answer.

The girls were shaking in fear when Mikan started approaching them. She stopped her tracks and raised an eyebrow. "Don't be so frighten, I won't bite you." She sweat dropped when the girls started whimpering. She then smirked evilly. I have a new toy to play with. Let see what should—

"Mi-chan?" a voice interrupted her thoughts.

Mikan turned her gaze toward the source and smiled. "Ah! Akira, what are you doing here?"

Akira's eyebrows furrowed at Mikan's sudden cheerfulness. He walked inside the classroom and gasped when he saw the girls.

"What exactly are you doing, Mi-chan?" Akira asked, ignoring Mikan's question.

"Hee-hee. I got bored and decided to play with them." Mikan chuckled.

The boys stiffen at the "play" statement and thought the same thing, What does this play exactly mean?

"Mikan, I hope you're not playing again." Akira narrowed his eyes.

Mikan smiled sheepishly at him. "I love playing since most of them provoked me."

"Just let her be, Akira," Hotaru said flatly, and Sumire added, "Unless you also want to play with her."

Mikan grinned at Akira immediately.

Akira quickly back off while raising his hands. "No! Thank you very much."

"Awww, you're no fun," Mikan said lightly then asked, "So, what are you doing here?"

"The Head Principal asked for you."

Mikan turned her eyes back to the girls. She smirked when she saw the girls started hugging each other for comfort. "I'll leave all of you alone now. If you have something to say, say it directly to me. I'll certainly forgive you after that but only after you play with me for a day." She rubbed her chin cutely as she tried to remember something. "Come to think of it, it's been years ago."

"Five years ago, Mikan. Remember, the girl who spoke ill about you not long after Akira joined us," Sumire reminded.

The girls gasped. They also heard about that rumour, but they didn't know what actually had happened to the girl before she dropped out from the academy.

Mikan smiled. "Ah! Yes, I've forgotten what happened to the girl after I played with her for a day."

"Drop Out," Hotaru replied shortly.

Mikan-san's scary, the boys thought in unison.

"Awww, am I that bad to play with?" Mikan pouted, and Akira sweat dropped. "Just let them go, Mi-chan. You need to meet the Head Principal now."

"Yes, yes." Mikan sighed and released her Ice Alice. She looked at the girls. "Your bad luck that I can't play with you guys."

"See you, girls," Mikan bid her two best friends before walking out of the classroom with Akira.

The class remained silent until Sumire spoke, "Hotaru, do you remember when we set a little prank to the girl, so she can stay away from Mikan?"

Hotaru gave her a nod in reply while making her invention, and Sumire continued, "I have to admit that girl was quite brave to challenge us back. Though, it was too late for us to continue the prank because Mikan already found out about it and took the girl to play with her alone for a day."

"Only stupid people dare to play with Mikan," Hotaru spoke monotonously.

With that, the truth about what happened to the girl years ago was spread around the school. They were scared of Hotaru Imai and Sumire Shouda, but they were more scared to become Mikan's toy for the day. All in all, no one dared to talk ill about her again.

As for Natsume, he was proud that his favourite girl was not a weak girl who needed to be protected.

"You surprised me with these changes, Mikan." Shiro smiled.

Mikan smiled back. "I only want to play as much as I can before the upcoming graduation." She and those who were in the same grade with her would be graduated from the academy in two months' time. She gazed at Shiro. "So?"

"Oh, I only want to confirm that you've accepted your new mission regarding one of AAO supervisors."

Mikan nodded. "Yes, I've accepted the mission." So I can meet him.

"You are well aware that you are needed as the DA advisor when the graduation is due, right?"

"Yep, I know. I have already arranged for that. Don't worry, Shiro-kun, no one will realise that Mikan Sakura is Black Rose."

Shiro nodded before asking, "How do you do, Mikan?"

Mikan raised an eyebrow. "Why suddenly asked me that kind of question?"

"I’m so sorry for burdening you like this."

Mikan sighed. "Please don't worry about it, Shiro-kun. At first, I doubted myself, but now, I'm totally fine."

"For real?" Shiro asked hesitantly.

Mikan smiled. "For real."

Shiro returned her smile. "All right then, I'll prepare your departure tomorrow night."

Mikan nodded and stood up. "I guess that's all? I'm going now."

Without waiting Shiro's reply, Mikan left to the library.

Everyone in the library gaped in surprise when they saw the famous Black Cat or Natsume Hyuuga, coming to the library, out of all places in the school.

Natsume ignored his fan girls that tried to get his attention. He started looking for his favourite girl and smirked when he found her alone with her books. He knew for sure that she hadn't noticed him yet, so he did something that made everyone gasp in disbelief. He gave her a peck on her right cheek.

Surprised, she dropped the book she was currently reading and turned to him.

Hazel orbs meet the crimson.

Slowly, he leaned forward, and everyone in their background froze, some of the fan girls even fainted. He pressed her forehead with his and softly whispered, "Can we talk?"

Though Mikan believed they had nothing to talk about, she still agreed, "Lead the way, please." She wished to see what he wanted.

He smirked and entwined his left hand with her right hand. He squeezed her hand lightly as they walked out from the library.

She smiled inwardly. You really are an interesting person, Natsume Hyuuga.
