My Favourite Girl: Chapter 6

#05: Gakuen Alice (Natsume & Mikan)

Unaffected by the eyes of his fan girls, Natsume led his favourite girl to his sakura tree. He gently pinned her against the tree and leaned forward until their faces were only an inch away.

"What is it?" Mikan asked while staring at him playfully.

"I'd like to ask you."

She smiled and leaned into his forehead. "Yes?"

"Why did you accept my invitation even though you knew it was me?"

She closed her eyes and softly replied, "I just wanted to play with you." Do I?

He wanted to see his favourite girl's eyes to seek out the truth, but, unfortunately for him, her eyes were closed. He caressed her cheek. "Open your eyes, Mikan."

She felt her heart stop for a few seconds when she heard her name slipped out from his lips. This was the first time he called her by her first name. Slowly, she opened her eyes and looked into his crimson eyes. I was drawn by his crimson eyes. The same crimson eyes from the one I loved.

Unconsciously, tears started welling in her eyes.

Natsume, seeing her gathering tears, was shocked. He then did what everyone else would do, pulled her into his arms. He sat down on the ground and embraced her tightly but without hurting her. She hugged him back as she cried. A few minutes later, she fell asleep on his lap. Her head was on the crook of his neck, and his arms wrapped around her waist protectively. Leaning against the tree, he, too, fell asleep while hugging her.

It was the sounds of whimper that woke him up. He looked down at his favourite girl who seemed having a nightmare. He hugged her closer to him and whispered into her ear. "Shhh… It’s all right. It’s just dream. I will always be with you, Mikan."

Surprisingly, she started calming down as she sighed in relief and fell asleep again. Since it was getting cold, he decided to go back to his room. Once he arrived in his room, he tried to lay her down on the bed alone, but fortunately for him, her grip on his shirt was as tight as glue. He sighed inwardly even though deep down in his heart, he was happy that his favourite girl wouldn't let him go.

I wonder what she will do when she wakes up, he thought while looking at his favourite girl. He gave a small smile before planting a kiss on her forehead and joined her to the dreamland.

Mikan's eyes snapped open when she was finally awake and felt someone's arm around her waist. Slowly, she looked up and stared at the sleeping boy. Natsume…

She remembered she had a nightmare about the night where her family was killed by the AAO in front of her very eyes. Her world shattered into pieces when she saw her family's blood, but she shed no tears. The AAO didn't realise her existence because her family already hid her presence before the AAO came and killed them all. She stayed in the house when the fire started burning and that was the first time she met him. His crimson eyes that drawn her to him. He saved her from the fire and brought her to the academy. Starting from that day, she never smiled anymore. At least, not until her two best friends and her cousin Akira Azumi joined her in the academy. Because of her dead family, she became a professional assassin for the academy to get her revenge.

"… I will always be with you, Mikan."

His gentle words chased away the bad dreams. Slowly, she reached out and caressed his face.

He woke up from his slumber when he felt a hand on his face. Opening his eyes, he caught the hand that caressed his face. He looked at his favourite girl and was greeted by a gentle smile from her. He immediately rolled over, so he was on top of her. His left hand entwined with her right hand while his right hand supported his body. He leaned forward and whispered, "What are you doing?"

"Caressing your face," she replied in a matter-of-fact tone. "How did I end up in your room and sleeping with you?"

Her reaction was calmer than I expected. He mused. "Because your grip on my shirt was really tight, and you wouldn't let me go."

Did I do that? she thought in disbelief and looked down on his shirt. Indeed, there was a spot of his wrinkled shirt that indicated her strong grip.

"I’m sorry, Natsume," she mumbled.

He smirked. No more Hyuuga, so one more step to go.

"You haven't told me what you wanted to talk about," she started again.

He looked at her face. "Allow me to court you, Mikan Sakura."

She stayed still until an idea came to her mind. "What do I get if I allowed you to court me?"

"You will get this…"

He locked her lips with his. He kissed her lips and nipped her lower lips, asking for permission. She granted him the access easily, and he eagerly tasted and explored her sweet cavern. They played and fought for dominance in the kiss. In the end, there was no winner. They both reached their limit at the same time and broke the kiss breathlessly.

Slightly panting, he leaned to her ear again. "I have more to give you, but you will have to allow me to court you."

She smiled playfully. "Yeah, yeah, whatever. Now, get off of me."

"Nope, not until you tell me about yesterday," he said seriously.

Her smile faded and looked away from him. He would have none of that, so he turned her face to look at him again.

She closed her eyes.

"Open your eyes and look at me, Mikan."

She obeyed him and opened her eyes. Staring into his eyes, she softly whispered, "Your eyes."

The reason was quite simple, she cried because of his eyes. He tried to register what was wrong with his eyes and something hit him hard. There was only one reason why she cried. He looked into her eyes. "It reminds you of someone you love."

Her eyes widened, and he sighed mentally. "I will take that as a 'yes'." He got up from the bed and left to his bathroom, not bothering to give her a second glance.

As soon as the warm water running down to his naked body, he desperately thought, Do I have to feel lucky that I share the same eye colour with someone she loves?

Is she still in love with him? he asked himself and another question crossed his mind, Is he a student from the academy, too? I rarely saw any guys who have the same eyes colour as mine… he pondered again. His eyes slowly widened in realisation. Persona. It's impossible! It can't be Persona! He tried to convince himself. Persona is her older brother, isn't he? He stood still as he realised calling someone 'brother' didn't mean that they were blood-related. A new question nagged his mind. How deep is their relationship?

Meanwhile...

Baka Mikan! Mikan scolded herself. Now you have hurt him because of your stupid reaction.

To be honest, she herself wasn’t sure about her own feelings. It was his crimson eyes that drew her to him. Persona, the person she loved, shared the same crimson eyes. She understood that Persona saw and thought of her as a little sister, but she still couldn’t let go of her feelings. But then, she wanted to move on. Maybe, just maybe, it was time for her to start now by giving Natsume a chance.

Nodding to herself, she joined him to the bathroom.

Natsume, too preoccupied with his own thoughts, didn't realise Mikan already stood behind him until she hugged him from behind. He froze. He didn't know what to do as he was pretty sure they both were stark naked. His mind drew a blank.

Mikan reached out to turn off the shower, which earned silence through the bathroom. The only sound that could be heard was the dripping water. She hugged him again and pressed her ear to his back, hearing his fast beating heart. They had the same rhythm of heartbeats. He was nervous, just like her.

"Natsume…"

Nastume closed his eyes. "What are you doing, Mikan?"

She closed her eyes as she softly asked, "Can you help me forget about him? I want to find a new love with you."

His eyes widened in surprise as he didn't know his favourite girl would tell him the truth. He needed a confirmation. "Can I?"

"Yes."

With that answer, he slowly turned around.

They stared at each other. A slight tinge of blush appeared on their faces. Obviously, this is their first time appearing naked in front of the opposite gender. He then offered her a fresh towel from the cabinet and dried himself as best as he could.

"Come," he said as he took her hand and went back to his room again. She was laid down on his bed, and he climbed on top of her. He looked down at her hazel eyes that showed determination about what they were going to do. He caressed her flawless face, and she closed her eyes, enjoying the feeling of being touched by him.

"You're so beautiful, Mikan," he whispered softly.

She blushed slightly.

He traced her lips before kissing her. After several moments, he broke the kiss only to start kissing her neck, jaw line, down to her chest and back to her lips again. He pulled away after kissing her lips. While looking into her eyes, he asked, "Are you sure about this?"

She nodded. "Yes."

After a minute or two, he sighed and laid himself down next to her left side and closed his eyes.

She was confused why he had stopped. Not that she was ready, but she also felt rejected. Her thoughts were interrupted when he pulled her close to him.

He traced her wet hair with his fingers and softly said, "I will help you forget about him but not in this way."

Her eyes widened and tears started forming in her eyes. "Why? Why are you so nice to me?"

He hushed her to stop crying.

"Even after I said those words to you yesterday, why?" she cried.

He kissed her forehead. "Because you're my favourite girl, Mikan Sakura. The first time I laid my eyes on you, I fell in love with you."

She cried harder, not because of sadness but happiness.

When she calmed down, he continued, "I know it's too fast for both of us, but I can't stand it when other guys drooling over you."

"Will you be my girl, Mikan Sakura?" he proposed while looking into her hazel eyes.

She smiled happily. "Yes, yes, I will."

Natsume smiled with joy for the first time in his school life. He kissed her again before saying, "I love you, and I will make sure you will love me, too."
