I Love You: Chapter 9

#07: Gakuen Alice (Natsume & Mikan)

Mikan splashed her face with cold water and stared at her reflection on the mirror. What had possessed her to confess her love to him so suddenly? She closed her eyes as the flashback from yesterday replayed in her mind.
Silence filled the room as well as her mind. They stared into each other's eyes. He stared at her before slowly removing himself from her. He stood in front of her like a statue.'N-Natsume… I-I—'

Before she could finish her words, he walked away from her without saying anything. She watched his back with aheavy heart. Upon hearing the soft click of her door, she cried as he had left her.

'Are you alright, Mistress?' a voice asked, bringing her back to reality.

Mikan opened her eyes. 'I'm fine, Mika.'

Mika was the name of her demon side. When she was crying yesterday, Mika had tried her best to comfort her. They have the same heart but different minds and personalities. Apparently, Mikan could let Mika out only when she gave her permission to. Even though Mika took over her body, it was she who had full control of her demon power.

I'm not being myself, Mikan thought with a sigh. She started her morning routine. After she was done, she made her way to the classroom. However, she stopped her tracks and leaned on the wall of her classroom when she reached there. Since her demon side awakened, she attained keen ears. Closing her eyes, she listened to her classmates.

"Ne, ne, did you know Mikan-san was trying to seduce Natsume-sama?" one of the girls said.

"For real?"

"Impossible!" another girl piped out.

The first girl continued, "I guess her innocent face has fooled all of us. I could easily see Natsume-sama didn't like her one bit."

"I wonder how Mitsuki-san felt about this," the second girl added.

The third girl muttered, "Poor Mitsuki-san…"

Mikan opened her eyes and did the one thing she could think of: running. She didn't want to hear the rest of the conversation. Her feet had guided her to the Sakura Tree, but she immediately stopped running towards the tree when she saw Mitsuki hugging Natsume under the tree. Pain filled her heart. She knew her tears had been welling up and threatening to fall anytime, so she ran to the Northern Forest.

Mitsuki broke the hug when Natsume touched her arms.

Natsume scanned his surroundings. Weird. I thought she was here.

"What is it, Natsume?"

He only spared her a glance before looking away. "Nothing."

"Thank you," he said after a moment.

"You're welcome, Natsume." Mitsuki smiled. She had decided to call off her engagement with Natsume because she didn't want to stand between him and his love, Mikan.

Tears streamed down Mikan's cheeks as she closed her eyes tightly. She stood in the clearing as she cried. As she broke down to the ground, she cried harder. The entire forest watched her with sympathy. After a few minutes, the clear sky turned cloudy and rain poured down the Gakuen Alice. Some of the student groaned in annoyance because of the sudden change of weather. Fortunately, the rain stopped before the fourth period start.

Mikan had fallen asleep while crying. Even though it had been raining, she didn't get wet at all because she was protected by an unseen barrier. Slowly, she pushed herself up from the ground and brushed off the dirt on her uniform. Standing steadily, she made her way to the classroom with closed eyes. If you looked at her closely, you could see a faint six-pointed star on her forehead.

When Jinno-sensei was about to start his lesson, Mikan opened the door.

Confused, everyone including Natsume turned to look at her.

Jinno-sensei pushed his glasses up. "You are late, Sakura-san! You are not allow to attend the class for now."

Some of the student snickered at Mikan in disgust and even one of them silently said, "Serves her right."

Hotaru and the group looked at Mikan worriedly. They had been looking for her, and now, when she appeared, she was acting strange, not to mention that fact that she was walking without opening her eyes as if she was a blind person.

Something's off, Hotaru thought curiously and gasped silently when she caught Mikan's smirk that showed a glimpse of her fangs. Her worry was proven when Mikan opened her eyes.

What greeted them was a pair of crimson eyes instead of hazel. The rest of the group who realized this gasped in horror. Jinno-sensei and the class who witnessed the same thing gasped in surprise and disbelief, too.

Mikan's cold voice filled the classroom. "Did you say something, Jinno-sensei?"

They couldn't believe what they heard, the Mikan Sakura they knew was mute, but the one who stood before them was not.

Unknown to them, it was Mika, Mikan's demon side.

"N-nothing," Jinno-sensei stuttered out. "Go to your seat, so we can proceed to the lesson."

"Arigatou, sensei," Mika replied shortly with a small bow and made her way to her seat casually.

"What happened to you, Mikan?" Natsume's inner heart asked, but to his dismay, he didn't get any responses from his calls.

Mistress has given me the permission to take over until her curse is lifted, Mika said through Telepathy Alice to the group excluding Natsume and Mitsuki.

The group sighed in relief.

Natsume looked at the group with curious eyes and pondered, Something is not right…

As break time was announced, the group had left Mika alone as she wished.

When Natsume approached her, Mika stood up.

Before she could walk away, Natsume grabbed her wrist. "Who are you, and where's Mikan?"

"Remove your hand on my person. Mistress does not wish to speak with you." Mika glared at him.

He let her go slowly. She doesn't want to speak with me?

Mika walked around the school building. She smirked when she felt another presence behind her. They had been following her since she stepped out of the classroom.

One… three… five… she counted mentally. She continued walking to the direction of northern forest. Her stalkers also kept following her. After a few minutes of walking, she stopped at a clearing. Five students immediately revealed themselves, and they surrounded her in a circle. There were three girls and two boys.

"How clever, you know we have been following you," one of the girls sneered.

Mika slightly smirked. "Who do you think I am?"

"Don't underestimate her. She is one of the Dangerous Ability Class students," one of the boys warned.

Mika smiled. "I praise you for your good memory."

"What do you want from me, ladies and gentlemen?" Mika asked lightly.

"Stay away from Natsume-sama, bitch," one of the girl spat.

"What did you just call me?" Mika darted her crimson eyes to the girl. How dare you call Mistress a bitch when you're one of them.

"Bitch might not good enough. Should I call you slut instead?" the girl sneered.

The rest of them laughed, but they stopped laughing when Mika started to emit a dark aura. They froze when they saw a six-pointed star on her forehead.

"How dare you speak of my mistress that way," Mika growled dangerously as her hair grew longer and turned black. Claws and fangs lengthened as she slowly lifted to the air. "Insolent human!" Mika snarled in fury. She pointed one of her claw fingers to the girl. "You will be punished for your disrespect towards my mistress!"

The girl was lifted into the air. The girl clutched an imaginary hand that held her throat, and she started struggling to get free. Her lungs were crying from the lack of oxygen while her vision started blurring. The rest of them wanted to run away, but somehow, their feet couldn't move as if glued to the ground.

'That's enough, Mika,' Mikan voiced out suddenly.

Almost immediately, Mika let the girl go and dropped her to the ground. "Be grateful that my mistress still has mercy on you."

The girl grasped for air and coughed multiple times. The other two girls quickly approached the girl to help her while the boys stood where they were.

"Voice this out to others, and your life will be forfeited," Mika said with venom.

They quickly ran away from her. Slowly, Mika's appearance returned to normal except for her eye color and her little fangs.

When her feet touched the ground again, a voice greeted her, "Impressive."

"What do you want, Persona-sensei?" Mika asked coldly.

Persona revealed himself to her and smirked. "I did not know you can use your voice, Shirou Yuki."

"If you wish to talk about the mission, you better ask someone else," Mika said as she started walking away from him.

When Persona was about to stop her, he felt his right arm burn. His eyes widened when he saw a six-pointed star on his right arm.

It will hurt a lot when you have ill intentions towards me, Persona-sensei. Her voice rang inside his head.

Mika smiled. 'This is the least I can do for you, Mistress.'

Natsume had been trying to approach Mika for the past few days, but to his disappointment, she was avoiding him. She was acting like she didn't want to have anything to do with him. The loud class went silent instantly when they saw their homeroom teacher Narumi-sensei with a new male student. His deep emerald eyes were perfectly matched with his dark green hair. A smile was on his handsome face.

"Everyone, please welcome your new classmate, Kazuma Kajiura," Narumi-sensei introduced.

Kazuma gave a small bow to the class. "Nice to meet you."

The girls squealed over him as their eyes turned into hearts.

Kazuma scanned the classroom until he saw Mika, who was currently staring at the outside scenery.

"She looks so beautiful…" Kazuma's inner heart said in adoration.

Mika turned her crimson eyes to his emerald eyes. After silently scanned his appearance, she smiled. "You look handsome yourself."

Kazuma's eyes opened wide in surprise.

The class looked between Kazuma and Mikan curiously.

Unknown to them, our fire caster was fuming at the moment.

"Did she hear what my inner heart said just now?" Kazuma asked himself.

Mika's smile became wider. "Yes, I heard you."

Kazuma stood there in disbelief.

Narumi-sensei tapped his chin. "Well, looks like everyone already has a partner."

"Yes, Mikan-chan?" Narumi-sensei asked with a smile when Mika suddenly raised her hand.

Mika smiled. "I have no partner, sensei. Katou-san has become my former partner since Kurokawa-san joined us."

The class stared at her in shock.

"Right! Then you will become Kazuma-kun's partner." Narumi-sensei smiled with delight, but the girls glared at him heatedly.

"Is that alright with you, Kazuma-kun?" Narumi-sensei asked the boy who was currently staring at Mika.

"Yes, I want her," Kazuma said without hesitation, and everyone's jaw dropped to the ground.

Let's see if you can help Mistress, Mika thought with a smile.

Narumi-sensei clapped his hands. "Then you can sit next to Mikan-chan, Kazuma-kun."

Kazuma replied by making his way towards Mika without breaking their eyes contact.

Narumi-sensei smiled. "Free period for all of you. Adieu!"

The class remained silent as they looked between Mikan and Kazuma.

Right after Kazuma stood in front of Mika, he smiled. "Your name is Mikan, correct?"

Incorrect. My name's Mika, Mika replied mentally. Nonetheless, she smiled back at Kazuma and sweetly replied, "Correct."

"I know it's too sudden, but will you be my girl?" Kazuma asked straight to the point.

The class gasped in surprise, shock, disbelief, etc. Dumbfounded, Hotaru and the group stared at Kazuma. Even our fire caster could not believe his hearing at the moment as he stared at Kazuma in disbelief.

'He will be the one, Mistress.' Mika smiled inwardly.

'I shall leave everything to you, Mika.'

'I shall not disappoint you, Mistress,' Mika replied humbly before smiling at Kazuma. "Sure thing if you call me Mika."

Kazuma nodded with a smile. "Mika then."

It was like a blizzard in summer time, and the class fainted.
