#12: Gakuen Alice (Natsume & Mikan)
...xXx...
...xXx...
He parked his car at the nearest park and rested his forehead on the steering wheel before closing his eyes. Head screaming in pain, he groaned and looked up to scan the park, and a brown-haired woman caught his eyes.
"A blind date won't be a bad idea," he muttered to himself before stepping out from his car and approaching the woman.
With closed eyes, she exhaled in relief. She was seating on the bench at the park which was quite far from her apartment. Why go through all that trouble just to be here? She just loved the atmosphere in this park. The calm feelings soothed her mind. Footsteps sounded from a distance, and she knew someone was approaching her bench. When the said person took a seat beside her, she decided to ignore the person.
He raised an eyebrow when the woman beside him ignored him since that had never happened before, not in his entire lifetime. Softly, he growled at himself as to why he would care about the woman who was currently ignoring him.
She opened her eyes and turned to her side to look at the person who sat beside her. Her brows furrowed as she watched him fight with himself.
He rubbed his temple since his head was screaming in agony.
She looked at him worriedly. "Ano… are you alright?"
Her voice brought his mind back to reality, and he turned to her.
Crimson met hazel.
They stared at each other.
He broke the silence between them, "Are you alone?"
She rolled her eyes. "I'm not since you're here."
He smirked. "Be my date for one night."
"Huh?" she replied unintelligibly.
He scanned her outfit and was pleased that she was presentable. Without waiting for an answer, he grabbed her hands and dragged her along with him.
"Hey! Let go of me!" she exclaimed while trying to break free from his grip. "Asking me to be your date, I don't even know—"
"Natsume," he interrupted and opened the passenger door for her.
She didn't know what happened to her because she found herself obeying him.
He went to the driver seat and started driving again. "Your name?"
She looked at him for a minute, and he added, "Just your first name."
Is this what they call a blind date? she thought before answering, "Mikan."
Turning to look at the man beside her, she knew that deep down in her heart, she didn't regret anything. Yesterday was her best date ever, and he treated her like a princess. She looked at the clock at the bedside, and her eyes widened in horror. Holy Mother, I'll be late for my flight!
Quickly but carefully, she slipped out from the bed so that she wouldn't wake her sleeping partner. She gathered her things hastily. When she was done, her heart ached at the thought of leaving the sleeping man. She approached him slowly and kissed his cheek. Even though it was just one night, I've fallen in love with you.
"Goodbye, Natsume," she whispered softly and closed her eyes. "I love you."
A man in black suit came inside and slowly made his way to him.
"Natsume-sama." He bowed.
Natsume nodded while reviewing the file he was holding.
The man nervously began, "We just received a call from Sakura Hospital."
As he put the file down, Natsume looked up at the man with demanding eyes.
The man gulped nervously. "Y-Youichi-sama was—"
"I expect him to be alright," he interjected.
The man cried mentally. His boss was really scary when he was angry.
"Yes! Youichi-sama is alright." He prayed that he wouldn't lose his job today.
Natsume rubbed his temple as he felt a headache was coming. "I assume you know what you should do."
"Y-yes!" the man stammered out. He bowed at his boss and quickly walked out from the office. Today, he was lucky.
Natsume stood up from his desk and got his jacket before walking out from his office. Passing his secretary, he spoke, "Reschedule all appointments."
"As you wish, Natsume-sama," she replied quickly because she didn't want to look for another job either.
Once he stepped inside his limo, he thought for a while, Sakura Hospital… If I'm not wrong, it's the most elite for private hospital in Tokyo.
After a few minutes, the door was opened for him to step out. He looked up at the white building before him. A red cross within a Sakura symbol coloured the top centre of the building. He was immediately led to his adopted son's room. When he stood in front of the door, he heard giggles. He recognized one of the voices as his son's, but what about the others? Stepping inside the room without knocking, he saw a 5-year-old little girl with brown hair talking happily with his son.
Youichi saw him and smiled. "Otou-san!"
The little girl stopped talking and turned around. Her crimson eyes that surprisingly matched his gazed up at him.
"See, Kisa-chan. Otou-san has the same eye color as you." Youichi smiled.
His eyes widened when the little girl smiled at him. Somehow, he remembered someone who had the same smile.
"Hajimemashite, Oji-san." She gave a small bow.
She's well behaved. He smiled mentally. "Haijimemashite, Kisa-chan."
"There you are!"
All of them looked at the owner of the voice. Standing before them was a brown-haired man with a pair of sapphire eyes.
Kisa smiled. "Akira-tou-san!"
The heir of the Sakura Hospital? Natsume marked mentally after reading the name tag: Akira Sakura.
Akira caught Kisa, who ran to him, easily and gathered her into his arms. "You should not be running around the hospital, Kisa-chan."
Kisa hugged his neck and whined. "Okaa-san's office is boring."
Akira pitched her little nose playfully. He then looked at Natsume. "You must be Youichi's father?"
Natsume nodded in reply, and Akira gave a small bow. "I'm sorry about Kisa."
"It's okay," Natsume answered.
Akira let Kisa down and checked Youichi's condition. But before he could do that, Kisa tugged on his white coat. He turned to her. "Yes?"
"Okaa-san already checked Youichi's condition, Akira-tou-san," Kisa explained cutely.
Akira smiled. "I know, your mother asked me to double check him before he leaves."
"Ehhh…? So soon?" Kisa whined.
As he patted her little head, Akira chuckled. "Kisa-chan, shouldn't you be happy that You-chan won't stay long in the hospital?"
"Well, I'm happy, but I still want to play…" she trailed off.
Akira crouched down. "Did you know that the family gathering will be held in a few days?"
Kisa's eyes lit up. "Then Karen will be coming, right?"
With a smile, Akira nodded before Youichi curiously asked, "Karen?"
"Karen is Akira-tou-san's daughter," Kisa replied with a smile.
Natsume raised an eyebrow at her… strange statement.
Akira chuckled. "I'm sorry, you must be confused. I'm not Kisa's father. She tends to call me Otou-san because her mother is my twin sister."
"I see," Natsume replied shortly.
Akira checked Youichi's condition for a while before smiling. "You will be able to leave this evening, You-chan."
"Arigatou, Sakura-sensei," Youichi thanked him, and Akira nodded with a smile.
Suddenly, a nurse came into the room and approached them. "Akira-sama."
"Yes?" Akira turned around.
"Mikan-sama is waiting for you to start the meeting and asked to bring Kisa-chan along."
Natsume felt his heart stop beating for a moment when he heard that name. Is she the same woman I have missed so much till now?
"Ah yes, I almost forgot about that. I'm coming," Akira replied quickly and turned to look at Kisa. "See, your mother is already looking for you."
"Hai," Kisa replied with a low voice.
Akira swiftly gathered her into his arms as she spoke, "Can I invite You-chan to the family gathering, too?"
"Sure, why not," Akira replied with a smile. He turned to look at Natsume. "I hope you won't mind, Hyuuga-san?"
"No, I won't mind at all," Natsume replied quickly.
Akira smiled. "Great. I'll send the invitation card to your house tomorrow."
Natsume nodded in reply. He was determined to find out if his twin sister was the same woman he had fallen in love with six years ago.
"Ah, let me introduce you, this is Karen, my cousin," Kisa introduced happily.
Youichi greeted the blonde girl with a smile. "Hello, Karen-chan."
"Hello, You-chan! Nice to meet you," Karen replied with a smile.
"Nice to meet you, too."
Suddenly, a soft voice came from within the house, "Both of you, what have I said about opening the door?"
"Gomenasai," the little girls apologized in unison.
The door opened wider, and Natsume's eyes widened.
Mikan's breath caught in her throat as she stared at the man in front of her. She whispered, "Natsume…"
"Okaa-san!" Kisa called out after a few minutes of silence.
Mikan turned to look at her. "Yes?"
Kisa furrowed her eyebrows cutely, and Mikan gasped. "My goodness, please come in."
Natsume and Youichi walked inside as they were greeted by the Sakura family. For the rest of the gathering, Mikan didn't dare to look at Natsume. Even after the gathering party had ended, Mikan didn't say a word to Natsume. She wasn't sure why she was afraid of him.
"Okaa-san, are you alright?" Kisa asked with worried tone. She knew her mother was somewhat upset during the party.
Mikan forced herself to smile and hugged her daughter tightly. After she broke the hug, she gave a small smile. "I'm alright, Kisa-chan."
Kisa decided to ask no more.
"Kisa-chan… Do you want to meet your Otou-san?"
Her little eyes widened. "O-Otou-san? Can I really meet him now?"
Mikan smiled as she kissed her daughter. "This weekend, you will be able to meet him."
Thus, throughout the night, Kisa asked everything about how her father looked like, and she told her as best as she could.
Natsume stood at her side and stared at the woman he missed for six years. He caressed her cheeks gently.
Startled, Mikan opened her eyes and moved away in reflex. She sighed in relief when she realized it was Natsume.
"Natsume…"
He sat beside her on the bench. His lips formed a small smile when he saw Kisa.
"Natsume, I-I would—"
"I missed you, Mikan," he interrupted her.
She looked at him for a good minute before turning her eyes to Kisa. A smile was on her face as she replied, "I missed you, too."
"You left without saying anything." It was a statement rather than a question.
Mikan clapped her hands together. "I'm sorry. That day was the last day I was going to stay here. I had to move to New York to assist my family."
"She's mine, isn't she?" he asked while looking at Kisa.
She looked at him in surprise.
He turned to look at her, and they stared at each other.
They averted their eyes towards Kisa, who was calling him while running in their direction.
Kisa hugged her mother and smiled at Natsume. "Good afternoon, Oji-san."
Natsume smiled. "Good afternoon, Kisa-chan."
"Where is You-chan, Oji-san?" Kisa asked with toothy smile.
"At home. Will you come with me to visit Youichi?"
Kisa turned to look at her mother with pleading eyes.
Mikan smiled, and Kisa smiled at Natsume. "Hai!"
Together, they went to Natsume's mansion.
Right after they arrived there, Mikan let Kisa play with Youichi while she herself was led to a room. She figured out it was Natsume's.
"Natsume?" she called out, breaking the silence between them.
While looking at the garden through the window of his room, he replied, "Tell me about her."
She smiled and told him everything about his daughter, no, their daughter. Hours passed, and they decided to have dinner together.
Everyone in the dining room became silent after Mikan told Kisa about Natsume.
Youichi and Kisa smiled at each other after a few moments.
Kisa smiled at her mother. "You-chan is my onii-chan then."
Mikan looked at her daughter with wide eyes.
Natsume smiled mentally. "The two of you can be excused after you both finish your dinner."
"Hai!" they replied in unison.
Upon finishing, Mikan began, "She accepted you without any questions asked."
Natsume smirked. "Who do you think I am?"
She rolled her eyes. Six years had passed by, but his cocky attitude still stuck with him. She was glad that he was the same Natsume she knew. When she turned to look at the time, she gasped. It was almost midnight. They found Kisa and Youichi already fast asleep in the young boy's room.
Natsume smiled. He had woken up from his slumber earlier than usual. Before pulling the beauty beside him, he gazed at her face. He now felt complete by having a son, a daughter and his soon-to-be wife. She began to awaken from the dream world and slowly opened her eyes.
She looked up at him with a smile. "Ohayou, Natsume."
He grunted a reply and kissed her forehead.
Taking a look at the time, she mentally noted, It's time to go back.
When she was about to pull away from the embrace, he embraced her more tightly and whispered, "Stay."
She looked up at him in confusion. "Natsume?"
He closed his eyes. "I will only say this once so listen carefully. I don't have any intention of letting you go again. Ever."
She sighed. "But I still need to go back, Natsume."
He hummed.
All she could do was close her eyes and hug him back. Of course, she was happy that he wanted her to stay.
"What is your wish then, Natsume-sama?" she asked playfully.
He smiled and whispered into her ears, "Just stay with me."
"A blind date won't be a bad idea," he muttered to himself before stepping out from his car and approaching the woman.

Mikan slowly opened her eyes and the memory from yesterday played in her mind at full speed. Her eyes widened as she looked at her naked body. They did it. Losing your virginity to a stranger was just great, Mikan.Turning to look at the man beside her, she knew that deep down in her heart, she didn't regret anything. Nastume stared at the big mansion before him. No, castle would be the right word. After pressing the bell, he and Youichi waited. After a few seconds the door opened and what greeted them was a 5-year-old blonde girl. No longer than a minute, Kisa appeared behind the girl and smiled at them. "Welcome to our family gathering, You-chan!""Ah, let me introduce you, this is Karen, my cousin," Kisa introduced happily.

"Okaa-san!" Kisa called Mikan while waving her small hand as she played with other kids in the park, and Mikan replied by waving back. They were at the park where Mikan and Natsume met for the first time. Six years had passed by, and the park was now filled with kids from the neighborhood. She was sitting on the same bench. Closing her eyes, she enjoyed the soft breeze around her and didn't realize someone approaching from behind. Kyaa! You're such a great writer! But it would be better if you would give a description on how the characters look like so I could imagine them easily. I know how Karen looks like now I guess, blonde hair, but is it long, short, or medium. Also how does Akira look like? Same as Mikan but in male form? But I think I can imagine Kisa easily. Brown hair and red eyes...
ReplyDeleteaww...that was such a sweet story.

Aw! Now this is what I'm talking about! I liked how you started this story out and how they each didn't date when she left after meeting each other. It's really rare to find people like that. ;D I also liked how you didn't make Natsume angry at her for leaving, that you let her explain herself, and that they were able to make up later on. This definitely brings in a new concept that I had yet to read and I am ecstatic that you put it in this one-shot of yours. . I also loved how Kisa just accepted her father, no questions asked. Absolutely lovely. Excellent job!
