The Guardian of Gakuen Alice: Chapter 6

#06: Gakuen Alice (Natsume & Mikan)
...xXx...
"What?" Natsume stared at Mikan. He muttered in disbelief, "It can't be, I'm… human…"
Mikan smiled. "I know it’s unbelievable, but it's true that you are one of The Guardian of Fire Element's children. Well, actually everyone who is in this academy are the same like you but… remember your Alice. Fire is one of the four main elements."
It made sense, but that didn't mean that he was one of the children of the main guardians.
"I have to tell you that it's only a part of you that acted as the children of the main guardian." Mikan said, answering his unspoken question.
Natsume eyed her curiously. No matter how many times she convinced him that she couldn't read minds, she always knew what was going through in his head.
Mikan chuckled at his curious look. "Really, Natsume. I can't read minds, but I can understand what you're thinking."
"Has something like this happened before?" he asked after a moment.
"Now that you remind me… Yes, it happened before, but it was a few hundred years back if I'm not wrong. I'll have to review my journal to be certain.”
Natsume stayed silent and realised their time together had been cut short because of this incident. Now, he was intrigued to what happened to the person who was told as one of the children of the main guardians. He gazed at her.
Feeling being stared at, she gazed at him.
They stared into each other's eyes for a good minute.
He wished that he had the courage to tell her that she was special to him. Very special to him that he couldn't afford to lose her. Yes, he finally admitted that he liked her. He liked her, but not because she was a guardian or his saviour, who saved his life several times. He liked her for who she was.
Both didn't know how long had they stayed like that.
When Natsume was about to say something, Fin, the forest fairy, appeared and plastered herself on Mikan's cheek. "I missed you so much, Mikan-sama."
Mikan smiled. "Hello, Fin."
Natsume cursed mentally. He glared at Fin, who was obviously ignored him like he was not there at all. He looked away and quietly muttered, "Brat."
Fin, who had sensitive ears, of course heard him. She twitched and glared at him. "What did you say, ungrateful human?"
He glared at her before glancing at Mikan. "Meet me tonight." With that said, he left.
Fin flushed in anger and exclaimed, "You have no right to command Mikan-sama, ungrateful human!"
Of course, he ignored her.
Mikan giggled mentally but sighed after she realised Natsume and Fin didn't get along even until now. She couldn't blame Fin, though. Fin never liked humans. She was a forest fairy. Each time the forest was destroyed by the humans, she felt pain and hated humans even more. To her, humans were selfish creatures. Natsume was no exception because he, too, was a human.

...xXx...
"One time a human had been told as one of the children of the main guardian. It was the children of The Guardian of Earth Element … It is said that it was possible for a human to become a guardian and stand alongside with other guardians … In order to change the human into guardian, the human has to be accepted by the rest of the main guardians…" Mikan pondered for a while, I think I have to pay a visit to Kira to find more information about this. Will Natsume like it if he knows about this? She then shook her head, she wouldn't dare to hope. The human won't be able to become a guardian if the main guardians hate human…
She read her journal one more time to make sure she was not missing anything. She had read it before, but she didn't pay much attention to it as it was very rare to have a human to become a guardian. It did occur once in a few hundred years, but most humans wouldn't give up their human life. It was just difficult for them to watch their beloved wither and die before them. Moreover, once the human turned into guardian, they would stay immortal and must not be discovered by the other humans. If they were discovered by the humans, the memory of the said human would be erased. She closed her journal and her eyes. She remembered the time when she had to erase her human lover's memory Shiro Yamazaki.
How long had it been? She couldn't remember it anymore. Opening her eyes, she let out a long sigh. She looked out to the window and realised it was already night time. It appeared she had stayed longer than she had expected. She smiled as she remembered Natsume must be waiting for her now. He did tell her to meet him tonight. Even though he didn't voice it out, she knew he wanted the information about the person who had experienced the same thing like him.
She closed her eyes momentarily. After opening her eyes, she sighed mentally. One of the main guardians had come to visit her. She stood up and went to meet the said guardian. After walking through many halls, she finally reached the entrance of her palace. As expected, it was Kazuma, the Guardian of Wind Element.
Kazuma smiled at Mikan when he spotted her. "I wished to see you."
Mikan smiled and gave him a small bow. "I'm honour to have this visit, Kazuma-sama."
He approached her and held her hands. "I will be happy if you agree to have dinner with me."
She couldn't refuse his offer when he had come all the way to invite her. She mentally apologised to Natsume because she wouldn't be able to meet him until the dinner was over.

...xXx...
Natsume stared at the ceiling blankly. He already had his dinner and was waiting for Mikan now. He had been waiting for hours, but she hadn't showed up yet. Did something happen to her? He mentally shook his head. He was sure she was capable of taking care of herself. After all, she was a guardian. Maybe she has something to do. He rolled his body to the side of his bed and looked at the night sky. Through his balcony door, he could see the sky was filled with a few small stars that were blinking at him. Minutes passed by, and he felt his eyelids were getting heavy. Finally, he let himself fall asleep. He hoped he would see her when he opened his eyes again. A small smile graced his face as he went to his dreamland.
Mikan smiled down at Natsume's sleeping face. He looked so peaceful, and she noticed a small smile graced his face. Her smile grew. She brushed aside the bang of his hair. She would come back tomorrow night, she decided. Looking down at his face, she couldn’t deny the need to kiss him, and she did. She leaned down and kissed his forehead gently. She smiled at him for the last time. When she was about to leave, however, her wrist was caught by a warm hand. She turned back and gasped. He was staring at her. Her deep blue eyes stared back at him. She didn't protest when he pulled her to the bed with him. She didn't lie down, though. She was just sitting by his side.
Still holding her wrist, he sat up and murmured, "Where were you?"
She blinked. Is he awake or sleep talking?
"I'm awake," he answered her thought and repeated again, "Where were you?"
She remained silent as she didn't know if she should tell him the truth or not. It shouldn't bother him that I had dinner with Kazuma, right?
He gave a gentle squeeze on her wrist.
She sighed inwardly before telling him the truth, "Kazuma-sama came and invited me to his palace for dinner, Natsume." She smiled. "I'm sorry that it took so long for me to come here."
"I don't like him," he stated bluntly.
She was surprised.
An awkward silence filled the room.
She wasn't sure what to say. After a moment, she whispered, "Why?"
He pulled her body into his arms and hugged her tightly. He buried his face in her long dark blue hair then brought his lips near her ear before whispering, "You're special to me, Mikan."
Her eyes widened.
"I don't want to deny the truth. I like you … I really like you, Mikan …"
Her eyes grew even wider.
"Tell me … Tell me that you like me, too."
Her eyes slowly closed and smiled. She shouldn't deny the truth, too.
He was happy when she finally hugged him back.
"I like you, too, Natsume."
He smiled against her hair and pulled away. He pressed her forehead with his. His right hand cupped her face. She closed her eyes to feel his hand that slowly caressed her face. Right after she opened her eyes, his lips was already pressed against hers. He released his grip on her wrist and wrapped it around her waist. He pulled her closer to him and let her sat on his lap. They played and teased each other for dominance. Soon, he started giving butterfly kisses from her neck and down to her shoulder. She shuddered in delight and pleasure. She felt her maiden robe slide down, showing more of her cleavage. She didn't know what he was planning, but still, she let him have the ground.
He gently pushed her back to the bed. He towered her small figure as they gazed into each other's eyes. She gasped when he gave her a small smile and he kissed her lips again. She wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him closer. They broke their passionate kiss after what it seemed like hours.
He then left a kiss mark near her cleavage before lying down beside her. He pulled her into his arms. "Don't let anyone touch you, Mikan."
She understood his hidden message. Don't let him touch you again. She assured him by hugging him back.
He kissed the top of her head and looked down at her. "Is there any way I can stay with you … forever?"
Her breath hitched. Did he really mean it? After looking into his eyes, she finally saw the answer. He really meant it. She smiled genuinely. "Yes, there is a way for you to stay with me, but you will have to leave everything behind."
She didn't tell him any further until he absorbed what she was telling him.
He gazed at her. "Tell me how…"
She looked into his eyes. "Become a guardian."
