#18: Gakuen Alice (Natsume & Mikan)

Under the blooming Sakura tree, two figures stood. They were facing each other. One was a raven-haired boy with a pair of crimson eyes. The other one was a green-haired girl with a pair of pale green eyes. A gentle breeze passed them as their hair softly waved and the Sakura petals scattered around them. It was such a perfect moment, a perfect moment to confess our love to our loved ones.
"I don't have all day," the raven-haired boy said with a bored tone.
The green-haired girl flushed as she quickly apologized, "I'm sorry, Natsume-senpai."
She bowed down while stuttering, "I-I really like you, Natsume-senpai. W-will you go out with me?"
Before he left, he emotionlessly told her, "I'm sorry."
The green-haired girl looked up to see his back with tears. She knew she would be rejected. She was prepared for that, but it still hurt. Almost every girl in the academy had tried to confess their love to him, the famous Natsume Hyuuga. But, he never accepted one confession nor had he made a confession to any girl. There was no record that Natsume Hyuuga had a girlfriend before. There was even a time where rumors said that he was a gay since he was always together with his best friend Ruka Nogi. But, it was not true because his famous best friend already had a girlfriend, namely Hotaru Imai.
Mikan sighed, and the boy went rigid.
He would be rejected. He would absolutely be rejected. The class thought in unison as they almost looked at the boy in sympathy.
Before Mikan could say anything, the boy laughed with hurt face. "I know you would never… I hope we still can be—"
"Yes."
The boy stopped talking instantly and looked at Mikan with surprise and disbelief in his eyes.
The students were so shocked that they all stayed still.
"W-what?" the boy stuttered out.
Mikan giggled prettily. All the boys that were present in the classroom blushed. They had never seen Mikan Sakura giggle before!
"Kazuma-senpai, I said yes," Mikan repeated again with a small smile.
Kazuma's eyes widened and a big smile made its way on his face. "This must be a dream!"
"It's not a dream, Kazuma-senpai," Mikan assured him.
Kazuma then laughed and grabbed her hands. "Then, can we go to Central Town tomorrow for our first date?"
Mikan was surprised that her hands were grabbed so suddenly. Kazuma, who finally realized it, too, released her hands immediately.
He blushed. "I'm sorry! I-I'm just so happy."
"It's okay. I understand. I'd love to go with you, Senpai." Mikan smiled.
Some of the boys fainted from her radiant smile.
Unknown to them, Natsume, who was leaning against the wall of their classroom, had heard everything. If someone saw him, they would think that he was unaffected, but in truth his eyes were filled with anger.
Kazuma smiled. "No, no, don't worry. It's me who came early."
Mikan sighed in relief. "So, what we're going to do now?"
"I guess we could just go to a place that you like…" Kazuma trailed off while blushing madly.
Mikan blinked and nodded. "OK… that will do."
They spent their date exploring the Central Town like a normal couple, but they didn't hold hands or anything like that. Well, it was their first date after all. Then, they suddenly heard a scream. Both of them were surprised and went to see what was happening. Unexpectedly, it was Natsume, who was fighting with a few guys from the high school class B. Natsume glared at the green-haired boy who had tackled him on the ground.
"Don't think you're so popular that you can do whatever you want, Hyuuga," a green-haired boy spat angrily.
Before the boy could continue to attack him again, Natsume furiously spat back, "Don't act like you know me, bastard."
The taller boy was furious, but before he could punch Natsume again, a green-haired girl grabbed his hand, stopping him. Both of them looked at the girl.
Tears flowed down her face as she pleaded, "Please, Onii-sama. It's enough. It's not Natsume-senpai's fault."
After seeing the girl, Natsume snickered, "Revenge for being rejected, huh?"
More tears flowed down her face, and she wiped it as best as she could. While pulling her brother away from Natsume, she said, "I'm really sorry, Natsume-senpai. This will not happen again."
Her brother angrily exclaimed, "Sumire! How could you—"
"Shut up!" She cut him off. "It's OK, Onii-sama. I already knew that Natsume-senpai would reject me, so it's OK."
The green haired boy glared at Natsume for the last time before leaving him alone. Slowly, the people who were watching them dismissed themselves. Kazuma and Mikan approached Natsume, who was still sitting on the ground.
"Are you alright, Natsume-san?" Kazuma offered a hand to Natsume.
Natsume didn't accept his hand and stood up by himself. Before walking away from Kazuma and Mikan, he glanced at Mikan for a while and left them.
Kazuma stroked his hair. "I can't really understand that guy even though we have been classmates for years."
Mikan stayed silent as she watched Natsume go.
"Should we…" Kazuma trailed off.
Mikan apologetically smiled at him. "I'm really sorry, Kazuma-senpai. I just remembered that I have things to do."
"I'm sorry, Mikan-chan. This event might be unpleasant for you…" Kazuma apologized, but Mikan waved her hands. "No, no. It's OK. I understand."
"Please don't think that I've ended our date because of this. I just remembered that there are things that I have to do now." Mikan smiled.
Kazuma looked disappointed but smiled. "If this is what you want, then I guess we should head back to the academy now."
Kazuma nodded in reply. "I hope we can go for another date next time."
"Sure… then… I will see you tomorrow, Senpai."
Before she could go in to the dormitory, he caught her hand. "Mikan…"
She turned around and tilted her head, puzzled.
He squeezed her hand. "Just call me Kazuma since we are already going out…"
"Oh, OK…" she hummed, and before he let her hand go, he leaned down and kissed her cheek. "See you tomorrow, Mikan."
He then left with a blushing face. Before she realized what had happened, she blinked then blushed scarlet.
Unknown to her, a pair of crimson eyes watched them with jealously and anger.
"That is all for today." Kazuma ended the monthly meeting. One by one, everyone left the meeting room except Natsume and Mikan. Both were the members of the student council, too. Usually, Natsume would leave the meeting room immediately, but today, he uncharacteristically stayed behind. Kazuma, who also noticed this, was about to ask him but stopped when the door suddenly opened. The one who appeared before the door was Narumi-sensei.
Narumi-sensei smiled at them. "Kazuma-kun, I need your help for a while."
Kazuma sighed dejectedly.
"Will you allow it, Mikan-chan?" Narumi-sensei asked as he was teasing the new couple.
They blushed at the same time, but Kazuma was redder than Mikan.
"It's okay with me, Narumi-sensei," Mikan replied quickly.
Kazuma then approached her. He leaned down and kissed the top of her head. "I'll see you later, Mikan."
Mikan nodded.
He then left Natsume and Mikan alone.
After a good minute of silence, Mikan finally spoke, "Are you alright, Natsume-senpai?"
Natsume raised an eyebrow, and Mikan sighed. "About the other day…"
He looked away from her. "It's none of your concern."
Anger got the best of him now as he cursed himself inwardly.
She gazed at his face before muttering, "I see…"
After a moment she stood up and walked towards the door, but when she was about to open the door to leave, a hand stopped her. She then was trapped between the door and Natsume. Her sides were blocked by his arms. Her heart started racing faster as she could feel the heat of his body.
"Senpai?" she inquired without turning around. She swallowed thickly after a moment. In the blink of an eye, her back was pinned against the door and the next thing she knew was he was kissing her lips. She was speechless and shocked. She was trying to push him away, but he was a lot stronger than her. When he let go of her lips after a few seconds, she shouted, "Natsume-senpai, what are you—"
Her words were silenced by his lips again as he pushed his tongue and tasted her mouth. He was kissing her hard. She felt that she was getting dizzy and her legs had turned into jelly. Luckily, she was held by his strong arms so she wouldn't collapse. Her mind was screaming to fight, but her body started responding to his hot kisses. She was breathless. She didn't know how long they were kissing because after the kiss ended, it would start again and again, and it became more heated. When he let her go, the strength left her as she slid down. She was sitting on the floor as she tried to catch her breath. When she finally calmed down, she touched her swollen lips, and tears started rolling down her face. She felt guilty. She should have pushed him away because she was Kazuma's girlfriend for crying out loud. She had betrayed him. She looked up at Natsume in tears. "Why…"
After a moment he replied, "I want you."
He left her afterwards.
Mikan faked a smile. "Really, I'm alright." No, I'm not! I'm not alright at all! I have… I have betrayed you!
"Natsume didn't do anything to you, did he?" he asked again.
She shook her head. "He didn't do anything. He left after you left." But before he left, he kissed me passionately.
He didn't look convinced, so she told him with her faked smile, "Don't worry. I'm just a little tired." My mind was tired as I always think of him no matter what I do.
He nodded as he couldn't see the sincerity in her smile, which was zero at the moment. He then leaned down and was about to kiss her lips. She froze. When it was an inch away, she unconsciously stepped backward.
Kazuma, who realized this, quickly pulled away and blushed. "I'm sorry… I—"
"I'm sorry, Senpai. I don't think I'm ready for that step yet." Mikan lied. That was a lie. You just don't want anyone to kiss your lips other than him!
After that she left the dumbfounded Kazuma, who later smacked himself. He felt so stupid to push his luck. He then planned that he would apologize to her tomorrow.
Was Natsume in love with her? She asked herself but she couldn't let herself to dream that. It was such a silly conclusion even though she could die happily if it was true because she, too, was in love with him. She was in love with him since she joined Gakuen Alice. It was love at first sight. For years she had known that he was anti-sociable. No one could approach him other than his best friend Ruka Nogi.
When her best friend Hotaru became his best friend's girlfriend, she had hoped. She had hoped that maybe he would notice her for a bit but unfortunately, he did not. Even after they were introduced two years ago, nothing had changed. She sighed again. She should think about Kazuma, her current boyfriend, but her mind was filled with Natsume. With the kiss and his words that still lingered and played in her mind over and over again, she doubted that she could give up on him.
Mikan closed her eyes tightly and bowed to him. "I'm sorry, I'm really sorry, Kazuma-senpai."
Kazuma laughed in a disbelieving manner. "You're kidding me… I see that… You still can't call me by my name."
"Do you like someone?" He asked with painful tone.
Mikan looked up at him and nodded. "Yes. I've been in love this person for a long time. I thought that I could forget him if I accepted you but I was wrong… I'm still in love with him…"
"I'm really sorry, Kazuma-senpai." Mikan bowed again. Before she could leave him, he caught her wrist.
When she turned around and met his eyes, she started shivering in fear. "Please… let go of me, Kazuma-senpai…"
She tried to free her wrist from his grip, but it was futile as he wouldn't budge at all.
Fear was evident in her voice now. "Please… you're scaring me, senpai."
"I won't let go of you. You are mine!" he exclaimed as he was blinded by his anger. When he was about to pull her to him, someone knocked him from behind, and he passed out instantly.
She was already in tears as she stared at her savior.
"Are you alright?" His crimson eyes looked at her in concern.
She ran towards him as he opened his arms. He let her cry in his arms as he hugged her to calm her down.
"I have heard everything. You've been in love with someone for a long time," he said after a few moments later.
She broke the hug and wiped her tears. "It's you… it's you, Natsume-senpai!"
His lips formed a smile. "After all this time?"
"After all this time…"
He hugged her. "It's always been me?"
She returned the hug. "It's always been you."

ReplyDeleteI had to read it twice and slowly :) only because I do not know the characters. Ive learned of the basic 'plot' to the series but I do not know the characters because I've never read/watched any of this before
ReplyDeleteWith that being said...it was much easier the second time around and I just LOVED IT! I am sure others as well but the ending...oh so cute! I love it and it made me smile. "its always been you" such sweet sweet words to hear from one you love. But why was he such a jerk in the first place if he liked her that much...? :/ anyways thanks for writing. I enjoyed it and I am sure I'll enjoy it much much more once I've seen or read the series.
