The Rhyme: Chapter 6

#13: Inuyasha (Sesshōmaru & Kagome)
Prompt: Twinkle Twinkle
...Like a diamond in the sky...
While looking up at the twinkling stars above, he couldn’t help but compare them to his intended mate. She was the brightest diamond among the stars. As he had expected of her big heart, Kagome forgave his hanyou half-brother but not without giving him a good lecture. Inuyasha would have to work hard if he wanted to remain friends with her. For many years, she had endured his verbal and mental abuses, something she did not deserve from one she called a friend, for a friend did not hurt another friend. She might have forgiven him, but she was not willing to do the work to keep their friendship any more. He wouldn’t wonder why since one could only take so much.
Her long lecture should have been a wake-up call for his half-brother, but unfortunately, Inuyasha only saw and heard what he wanted to see and hear. Inuyasha had even believed that Kagome would come back running to him once he, the Lord of the Western Land, abandoned her for a demoness once she grew old. He would have snorted if he could. Kagome had brought up the same topic before they started courting, and he had assured her that if she chose to stay with him, she could live as long as he. Too see how her eyes shined with happiness for his thoughtful act, it had been worth the troubles he had to go through to get the special potion to bind her to him for eternity.
In the end, Kagome could only look on with sad eyes as Inuyasha left. With the help of her companions, though, she was not overly upset, and Inuyasha’s actions just proved that he wasn’t worth her time to think about. Rather than be happy for her, he tried to break that happiness. Truly, his half-brother was a fool. Still, it would not be his loss.
