...We all fall...
A few days after Inuyasha left the Western Citadel, he, along with her and her companions left the palace to continue her quest of shard hunting. For safety purposes, Rin and the kit Shippō remained in the palace with Jaken. His trusted general Takeshi knew better than to let harm come to his ward and his intended’s adopted kit. Much to his surprise, and pleasure, his servants and guards had come to adore his miko, for it was rare to see a miko that accepted hanyou and demons alike without prejudice.
Weeks of getting to know and see another side of him, which he did not show before everyone else, not even Rin, Kagome had finally agreed to be his mate and declared how she was falling in love with him. To say he was happy would be the understatement of the century. Since he couldn’t wait to have her as his mate, he decided to fasten the process of gathering the shards and to get rid of the spider hanyou once and for all. He refused to live in fear for the safety of his soon-to-be mate and their future pups. With Ah-Un, they gathered the Shikon shards much faster than their usual method as they were flying to where Kagome could feel the shards. While it usually took weeks before they could get a single shard, now, they had gathered five shards within a week. Kagome, and especially the monk Miroku, were pleased with their progress.
They all knew that it wouldn’t be long before the final battle.
True to their prediction, the real Naraku had come to confront them a week later. It didn’t surprise him to see his half-brother with the dead miko just before the fight began. He had been worried when his intended saw them, but much to his relief, Kagome never lost her focus. The opportunity to end Naraku’s terrors had finally come, and he would make sure the vile hanyou wouldn’t be able to breathe another air after this day.
