#02: Gakuen Alice (Natsume & Mikan)

"Everyone, don't forget to do the project," Misaki-sensei said to the class and faced Mikan. "Mikan-san, please come with me to the office."
"Yes, Sensei," Mikan replied and left the classroom with Misaki-sensei.

As soon as both entered the principal's office, Misaki-sensei began, "Mikan-sama, Yukihira-sama called us this morning, he said—"

"I know," Mikan interjected. She closed her eyes, and in seconds, her black hair gradually changed to brown, and her school uniform turned into formal attire with a white blouse and black skirt. Lastly, she took her glasses off, which revealed her clear hazel eyes.

"Please summon Narumi-sensei," she commanded and went to her desk.

Misaki-sensei nodded. "Understood."

She was born with powerful Alices — Nullification from her father and SCE Alice from her mother. When she was just 10 years old, she already started training with her older brother Persona. Her father already thought of her as a good leader, so when she turned to 15, she became the head principal of the school under his name. Her father placed her in charge of Alice Academy of Japan while he took care of Alice Academy of America. She didn't want anyone know that she was a Yukihira, so she disguised myself as Mikan Sakura. No student knew about all of this, except for Hotaru and Koko, her childhood friends.

It's been a month, Natsume… she thought while looking at Natsume's profile. Fire, huh?

"Ruka Nogi with Animal Pheromone, and Sumire Shouda with Cat and Dog Predisposition," she read aloud and realised something. She smirked. This is the girl that Natsume paid to act as his girlfriend… What a coincidence… Sumire Shouda…

"Interesting… I'll really look forward to what you're going to do, Natsume," she muttered while grinning.

She then heard a knock on her office.

"Enter."

With a cheerful smile, Narumi-sensei immediately approached her. "Mikan-chan, is there anything I can do for you?"

"Narumi-sensei, three new students will join our middle school tomorrow. You will be the one who will guide them to our classroom."

Narumi-sensei nodded in understanding and accepted the files that were offered to him.

"Arigatou," she said with a nod. "That's all, Sensei."

After Narumi-sensei left, she heard someone call her from the corner of the room, "Imouto-san."

Mikan turned to the source and smiled and went to hug her older brother. "Aniki!"

As soon as they broke apart, the black-attired man asked, "So, your fiancé is coming tomorrow?"

"Yes, but he, except for Youichi, won't know anything about Mikan Yukihira."

"I can see that you really hate him."

"What would you expect me to feel?" She huffed before changing the subject, "Aniki, how's the mission?"

"Completed. What I want to know is… will you ask him to join us?"

"No, he won't. However, Akira will."

"Akira?"

She nodded with a smile. "Yep! He's coming a day after him."

"I see… Then, see you later," he said before he disappeared from her sight.

She sighed when she looked at the piled up documents on her desk. Work, work, work…

"Ah, Mikan-chan! Here, here," Anna called out while waving as Mikan approached them.

"Good evening, everyone," Mikan greeted her classmates that gathered in the dining hall for dinner.

It was Nonoko, who greeted her back. "Good evening, Mikan-chan."

Everything's okay? Koko asked mentally.

Mikan replied him, Yeah, everything's okay. It's only that… he is coming.

I see…

"Hotaru, are you busy tonight?" Mikan asked while looking at Hotaru.

Hotaru replied with money signs on her eyes, "I won't if you pay me some Rabbits."

Everyone sweat dropped. Is she really Mikan-chan's best friend?

"Come on, Hotaru… I just want to talk with you."

Then, the inventor emotionlessly replied, "After dinner then."

"Mikan, we want to talk about the project that was given this morning," Anna started. "I was wondering if you want to do it together…"

Mikan sweat dropped. I already finished the project when I was still in the office.

"What? You already finished it?" Koko exclaimed with wide eye after he read her mind.

Everyone was surprised while Hotaru shot her Baka Gun at Koko for being too loud.

Nonoko looked at Mikan in disbelief. "You already finished the project, Mikan-chan?"

"Koko, can you just stop reading my mind?" Mikan sighed. You can read my mind but don't say it out loud, moron.

"Sorry," Koko muttered quietly.

Mikan smiled at Nonoko. "Yeah, I already finished it."

"Whoaaa… You're really smart, Mikan-chan," Anna praised in awe.

She's the top student after all, thought everyone.

"Teach us how to do it, Mikan-chan," Nonoko pleaded and did her best puppy dog eyes.

Mikan nodded. "We will do it tomorrow night. Is that okay?"

Anna smiled. "Tomorrow will be good. Arigatou, Mikan-chan!"

Mikan returned her smile. "You're welcome."

"I'm done," Hotaru announced as she got up from her seat and walked out of the dining hall.

Before running after Hotaru, Mikan bid, "See you tomorrow, everyone!"

"Mikan-chan is really a nice girl," Anna commented airily.

Everyone nodded in agreement and continued their dinner without Mikan and Hotaru.

"Hotaru, he is coming," Mikan informed shortly when they were out of earshot. Both made their way to the dormitory in silence.

"I really look forward to meeting him. I'd love to know who my best friend's fiancé is. If he's a handsome guy, then I'll be rich," Hotaru said with money signs on her eyes, again.

Mikan sweat dropped. "Good for you that he is. Aside from him, there is also a blonde boy named Ruka Nogi. He has a really cute face."

"Don't you forget that Natsume Hyuuga is your fiancé."

Mikan sighed. "Yes, yes," I wonder how Youichi is doing for the past month.

Hotaru, who saw her pondering face, inquired, "What are you thinking?"

Mikan shook her head with a smile. "Nothing important."

Hotaru sighed. "Since you came back from the training camp, it's really hard for me to read if you're telling the truth or not."

"Hotaru…" She suddenly felt bad and finally confessed, "I just thought about Youichi, Natsume's younger brother."

"It's getting late, go get some rest, Baka," Hotaru said and walked to her room.

"See you tomorrow, Hotaru!" She waved at her and reminded myself, I need to talk to Youichi tomorrow.

"Good morning, Hotaru," Mikan greeted cheerfully.

Even though she was still busy making her invention, she still replied, "Morning."

"Morning, Mikan-chan," Anna and Nonoko greeted in unison.

"Morning, Anna-chan, Nonoko-chan."

Will he join us this morning? Koko asked her mentally.

Nope, today is only his arrival at school, she replied as Serina-sensei entered their classroom.

"Alright class, we will start the homeroom now," Serina-sensei said while clapping her hands to get the students' attention.

"Please wait here, You-chan," Narumi-sensei said with a small smile.

Youichi stared at him blankly. Gay teacher.

Then, a familiar voice greeted him, "Welcome to Alice Academy, You-chan."

He turned to look at the person. Who is she? Her face looks like Mikan-nee but the glasses and the colour of her hair is different… very different…

You-chan is cute, as always, Mikan thought and looked at Serina-sensei. "Serina-sensei, please."

"Yes." Serina-sensei nodded and left them alone in the office.

"How are you, You-chan?" Mikan asked while taking her glasses off. Her appearance changed back to normal.

Youichi let out a bright smile. "I missed you, Mikan-nee." He ran into her opened arms.

Mikan hugged him. "Me, too, You-chan."

"Mikan-nee, why—"

"Listen to me, You-chan, everyone knows about me, Mikan Yukihira, as the Head Principal's daughter. I don't want any of the students to treat me differently because of my status, so I need to disguise myself as Mikan Sakura. I believe you won't tell anyone about this?"

The young boy nodded. "I won't. I promise, Mikan-nee."

A knock was heard and Serina-sensei appeared before the door.

Mikan turned to Youichi. "Now, You-chan, you must be tired. Serina-sensei will accompany you to your room. Is that alright?"

"Yes," Youichi said and gave her a peck on the cheek. Before leaving, he waved, "See you tomorrow, Mikan-nee."

After they left, Mikan felt another's presence in the office. "Aniki…?"

Persona appeared. "Imouto-san, be ready by 10, same place."

She didn't bother replying her older brother as she always agreed to help him with his missions.

"Natsume, you will transfer to Alice Academy tomorrow."

Natsume began, "Father, I don't—"

"I don't want to hear any excuses, Natsume. I will forgive you for what you did last month with this."

Stupid father, Natsume thought as he sat on one of the Sakura branches. He then heard footsteps. Someone's coming…

What he saw made him gasp. A girl? What's with the mask?

He saw the girl swiftly jump from one tree to another and went deeper into the forest.

What was that? He pondered, while jumping down from the tree and walking back to his room. Tch, this school sure is weird.
