"…me…"
"…sume…"
"Natsume…"
"Natsume!" Ruka exclaimed loudly.
Everyone in the classroom looked at him in surprise.
Natsume shook his head to clear his train of thoughts. He glared at Ruka and harshly answered, "What?"
Ruka flinched as he realized that his best friend was still in a bad mood. "I've been calling you for the past five minutes, but you didn't respond at all."
Natsume closed his eyes as he sighed silently. He stood up from his seat and murmured, "I'm fine."
Ruka sighed in defeat.
Everyone in the classroom watched their favorite fire caster walked out from the room. They had realized something about their fire caster was off since two months ago. He had started distancing himself from them and was always lost in his thought during class. They were willing to help him with his problem, but they didn't have a clue what the problem was.
Natsume leaned against the tree as he looked up to clear sky where a few clouds blocked the heat of the sun. When the clouds finally moved away, the heat hit him directly in the face he shielded his eyes with his right hand. He turned his hand around and stared at his palm. The Sakura symbol that was visible two months ago was gone. To him, it was like a dream. A dream that was both really good and bad at the same time. He sighed. He was no longer bothered by the heat of the sun as he brought his hand to the side. He clenched his fists tightly and closed his eyes.
"Natsume?" a voice interrupted him from telling the angel what he wanted to wish for.
Natsume turned to look at the owner of the voice. It was Ruka.
"Are you alright?"
Natsume raised an eyebrow. "What?"
Ruka looked at him nervously. "Well… I heard you talking, but I don't see anyone here."
Natsume looked at Mikan.
She smiled in reply. "Nogi-san can't see me because he's not allowed to."
She snapped her fingers as she transformed into her mini version and flew to him."Just call me once you have met your friend."
Before he could say anything, she had already disappeared from his sight. He threw Ruka a glare, making him step back a bit. "What do you want?"
Ruka gulped nervously as he knew Natsume was somewhat upset now. Still, he told him, "Youichi."
His eyes that were filled with fury were now filled with worry.
Ruka quickly added, "He's fine, Natsume. He's in the hospital now."
Without a second glance, Natsume already ran to the hospital. He was worried about Youichi as he was like a little brother to him.
"Damn!" he cursed under his breath. He had tried to convince Persona not to take Youichi for missions because he was willing to take both Youichi's portion and his own. But it turned out Persona wouldn't agree to it. They had some argument about the fact that he was going to graduate soon, and someone had to take his place. He clenched his fists as he pushed his way to Youichi's room. The boy was sleeping peacefully, and he noted that there were no major injuries on him. He sighed in relief.
Unknown to him, Mikan was watching him. She smiled as she knew how he felt about the silver-haired boy.
'I hope you will wish for something unselfish, Natsume…' Mikan thought as she closed her eyes and slowly flew away from the hospital.
Three days had passed, but Natsume hadn't told her what his wish was. She had a few guesses what his wish would be. She sat down on a stump that was placed at a small lake. She had found the lake when she arrived at the Land of Humans. Resting her chin in her hands, which were being supported by her knees, she watched her own reflection on thelake's surface. After a few moments, or probably hours, she heard the soft sound of thunder. She sat up straight and opened her palm. The same Sakura symbol on Natsume's stopped rotating, and gradually, one petal was stripped from the flower. After the petal disappeared completely, the symbol started rotating again. There were five petals in total at the beginning, but now only two were left. She sighed audibly and looked up at the night sky which was filled with many stars and muttered, "Natsume…"
She wondered what her parents would say if she couldn't finish her last task within the given time. She sighed again. She didn't tell Natsume anything about how many days she could wait for him. Fear started filling her mind about the thought of him forgetting her. It was an absolute rule. If the chosen human couldn't say what they would wish for within the given time, the human would have no recollection about everything. Which meant the human's memories about his or her encounter with the unofficial angel would be erased, and the unofficial angel would have to look for another human. She let herself fall back and lay in midair, floating higher and higher from the ground. This was why she liked being in her small form: she could float anywhere without using her wings. When she almost dozed off, she was jerked back to reality by Natsume's call.
"Natsume?" she called softly after she appeared before him.
Sitting down on his bed, he stared at her, and he nodded in reply.
"I take it that you already decided what you would like to wish for," she stated as she stared at him with great intensity.
He grunted a reply before closing his eyes for a moment. After he opened them, he looked into her eyes. "I wish for peace for this academy."
She had the urge to jump up and down in joy, but she refrained from doing so. Smiling, she stayed silent as she listened to him.
"I would wish I could be free from this school, but graduation will be coming soon, so I don't think I would need to wish for freedom anymore."
She nodded her head, understanding.
"I don't wish anyone to have the same fate as me, so I wish for peace between this school and the AAO."
Closed his eyes, he laughed at himself mentally. He didn't know why he became talkative in front of her.
A pair of hands on his cheeks startled him.
He opened his eyes and met with a pair of warm hazel eyes. She had turned back into her adult form, complete with her white gown.
She smiled. "You will be blessed for having a big heart, Natsume."
Her smile made his body and mind relax. He hugged her for the last time. Yes, he knew that she would leave after she granted his wish. How he wished to have her stay with him. How he wished to know more about her. Even though he only knew about her for a few days, he believed he wouldn't mind spending his life with her forever. But, he couldn't think about himself without considering the people that had stayed with him until now.
Her heart beat faster again, and she forced her heart to calm down. The butterflies in her stomach were flapping furiously. It was an alien feeling, but she didn't dislike the feeling at all. She would ask her mother when she was back in the Land of Angels; she decided. She hugged him back, and after a few minutes he broke the hug. She smiled at him and took his right hand. He watched intently as she closed his palm with her own. After murmuring a few words, she slowly lifted her hand. A long wand with a star at the top was slowly taken out from between their palms. The Sakura symbol disappeared when the wand was fully pulled out. She grabbed the wand and released his right hand. She stood up in front of him.
He admired her as white wings appeared behind her back.
She threw the wand above her. The wand stayed still above her as she chanted, "I, Mikan Sakura, shall grant the unselfish wish from a human named Natsume Hyuuga."
White light started surrounding her, and it lit up the entire room even more. After the white light dimmed, he gasped. In front of him, Mikan was clad with a gown that exposed her slender neck. The gown was light pink color that reached past her knees. One thing that was noticeable was the symbol on her forehead. It was the same Sakura symbol on his palm.
She opened her eyes slowly and looked into Natsume's eyes. "Your wish has been granted. From tomorrow onwards, no longer will fights between the academy and the AAO commence."
He nodded his head and softly said, "Thank you, Mikan."
For some unknown reason, her heart started beating faster again. This was the first time he called her by her first name since she arrived that day. Normally, he would call her bynicknames that he had come up with. She felt her heart clench painfully as she remembered that she had to leave. She really didn't have a clue what was happening to her, and she definitely needed to ask her mother about this, she reminded herself. Once again, she approached him and cupped his face with both of her hands. She leaned down until her forehead touched his.
They had their eyes closed, and the both of them didn't know for how long they stayed like that.
"Goodbye, Natsume," she whispered finally as she slowly faded and disappeared.
He let a tear slide down his face as the loneliness in his heart had overwhelmed and swallowed him inside.
Natsume opened his eyes that were glistening with unshed tears. He felt so out of character for cry again. The last time he cried was when Mikan had left him. The day after she left two months ago, he and the other DA students were magically stripped of the duty of doing missions. He sighed audibly. It wouldn't be of any use for him to cry just because he missed her so much. He stood up and walked back to his room.
A head poked out from around his right side. "Are you alright?"
He turned to gaze down at the owner of the voice who was obviously a girl. "What do you think?"
The girl sighed as she let go of him and moved to stand beside him. Her bored crimson eyes stared down at the people.
"Onii-chan, are you alright?" she asked again but with a more demanding tone of voice.
He sighed as he knew that he couldn't hide himself from his only little sister whom he loved so much.
"I'm alright, Aoi," he finally replied.
Aoi shook her head and gazed at her brother. "No, you're not, Onii-chan. I know you miss her so much."
She knew her brother's story about an unofficial angel that visited him during his last year at Gakuen Alice. For the past five years, her brother never smiled anymore. Well, occasionally he would, but she knew they were forced, fake smiles. She wished she could talk to this angel named "Mikan." How she wished to tell her that his brother was head over heels in love with her. Then, a knock was heard again, and she answered the door for her brother, "Enter."
A raven-haired man walked into the room as he bowed. "Natsume-sama, the candidates have arrived."
"Thank you, Kai. I'll be ready after a moment," Natsume replied emotionlessly.
Kai bowed again before leaving the room.
Natsume turned to look at his little sister and raised an eyebrow.
Aoi rolled her eyes. "Alright, alright, I will be out now."
He shook his head after hearing her words.
"I'll see you later, Onii-chan!" Aoi gave him a hug before walking out of his office room.
He sat down in his comfortable chair and took the highest file that was stacked on his desk. He was going to interview a new secretary for himself. He didn't bother to have one before because it was kind of annoying when they looked at him as if he was some kind of meat. It was because of Aoi, who had insisted that he should have a "woman" secretary. Even though Kai was good enough in helping him so far, he was only a messenger for their family, and he couldn't ask him to help him forever. He pressed a button on his intercom. "Bring them in."
He waited no longer than a minute the interview began.
The woman who sat in front of him ran out of the room, crying.
Kai, who sat outside the room, saw the woman and shook his head. Obviously, his boss didn't like the candidates. That was the last candidate, but when he turned to look at the waiting room, he saw a brown-haired woman sitting there. He was surprised and became confused but shrugged it away as he probably didn't see her just now.
"You can go in now," Kai said.
The woman smiled as she nodded in reply. She stood up and walked into the room.
Natsume massaged his temple. He felt as though his head would explode at any moment. Some candidates were not qualified but when they were qualified, he didn't like their attitudes one bit. He sighed and closed his eyes; it had been a really long day for him. The woman who walked out of his office just now was the last candidate. He got up from his seat and stared at the gloomy sky through the glass window. After a minute he heard his office door opened. He ignored it as he guessed it was probably Aoi, who tended to go into his office without knocking. After a few moments he became confused as the room was silent. Aoi had never waited silently before talking to him. He turned around. "Aoi, do you—"
His words were caught in his throat and so was his breath. He stared at the woman before him. She smiled at him, and he didn't dare to blink his eyes as he was afraid that she might disappear if he did. He was afraid she would leave him again.
"Mikan…" he mumbled softly as he was afraid that the woman in front of him just coincidentally had the same face like his Mikan.
The woman slowly approached him and stood in front of him.
They stared into each other's eyes.
His eyes widened when a Sakura symbol slowly appeared on her forehead as she spoke, "I'm Mikan Sakura, First Class Angel."
Without a second thought, he hugged her and almost cried in joy. "Mikan… Mikan… Mikan…"
Mikan hugged him back and smiled. She was happy that she could meet him now.
"Congratulations, dear," Yuka Sakura, her mother, immediately greeted her when she was back. "You have passed your last task."
She looked up at her mother with tears on her face.
Yuka's smile faded as she approached her daughter. "What happened, dear? Are you hurt?"
She hugged her mother as she cried, "I feel like I can't breathe. My chest hurts. I don't know what has happened to me, Okaa-sama."
Yuka's eyes widened and then smiled and hushed her only daughter, "It must have been really painful for you to leave him."
After she told her mother everything, her mother smiled and caressed her cheek. "Everything will be alright, dear. You have nothing to worry about. It is simply that you have fallen in love with this human."
She was confused as she had no idea what love was.
Her mother smiled. "You will know eventually; it's natural, dear."
After a few months she slowly understood what her mother told her before. She always watched over Natsume. Even though she was sad whenever she saw him looked so sad, but still, she was glad that she would be able to see him again soon. There was a rule where when a human wished for something unselfish, the human would have another chance to have one more wish. Of course, it wouldn't be fulfilled right away as the human would have to wait for another five years to see if he was really worthy of another wish. After five years Natsume had proved to the Land of Angels that he didn't change, so he was really worthy to have another wish.
They slowly broke the hug but Natsume continued to hold her waist. He caressed her face, and Mikan leaned in to his caress. He leaned down, kissing her forehead, her closed eyes, her nose, her cheek and finally her lips. He brushed her lips with his. Kissing her lips gently, he pulled her closer to him. He traced her lips with his tongue, asking for entrance. She opened them slightly, and he started exploring her sweet cavern. She shyly engaged her tongue with his for dominance. The kiss was filled with passion. After a few moments they broke the kiss breathlessly. Still with closed eyes, he cupped her face, and her arms were wrapped around his waist. Their foreheads were pressed together as they tried to calm their breaths. After calming down, they stared into each other's eyes.
Their eye contact broke when someone who was standing not far from the door coughed. It was Aoi, who was grinning as if she just discovered some big secret.
"Onii-chan, I'm sorry if I have interrupted the moment," Aoi apologized to her brother, but from her tone, it was clear that she was teasing him.
Natsume sighed then smirked. "Apology accepted."
Aoi gasped as she couldn't believe what she saw at the moment. Her brother was smirking!
Natsume turned to look at Mikan and smiled. He leaned down to her ears and whispered something. She giggled in reply.
Aoi almost cry as she saw her brother's smile. He finally smiled a true smile. It must have been because of the woman in front of him. She turned to look at the woman and gaped. Even though she stood by the door, she could still see it, the symbol that was on her forehead. She smiled, and her smile only grew wider as she ran to them.
"Mikan-san?" Aoi asked quickly.
Both of them stopped talking, and Mikan looked at Aoi.
Aoi looked at her face in awe. She finally met an angel. She looked at the symbol. It was a light pink Sakura. She almost squealed in delight when Mikan nodded. Quickly, she ran to Mikan with smile when she opened her arms.
"Nice to meet you, Aoi-chan."
They broke the hug, and Aoi looked up at her with a smile. "Thanks for coming again, Mikan-san."
Natsume became confused. He was happy that Mikan had come, but why? "What brings you here, Mikan?"
"I have come to fulfill your wish, Natsume," Mikan said with a smile.
Natsume and Aoi listened to her.
"My wish?"
Aoi let out a giggle when she witnessed her brother's shocked face but stopped when he glared at her.
Mikan nodded. "Your unselfish wish five years ago has given you another chance to have one more wish, Natsume."
Natsume stunned. He didn't think he would get another wish just because of his unselfish wish. He looked at Mikan intently.
"Anything?" It felt like déjà-vu as he remembered he had asked the same question five years ago.
Mikan's attire slowly changed back to her light pink gown. Her hair that was in a tight bun was released. It was flowing down to the back of her knees and a pair of white wings appeared behind her back.
Aoi watched in awe as she felt she was dreaming.
Mikan nodded with a smile. "Anything."
Natsume looked at Aoi, who nodded eagerly with a smile. He looked into Mikan's eyes as he spoke, "I wish…"
Natsume didn't bother to hide that fact because Mikan had told him that no matter how hard they tried to tell anyone about her, they would forget the thought immediately. It was some kind of natural spell that was put on them when they met her.
"Enter," Natsume replied when a knock from his door was heard. He was sitting on his bed that was facing the balcony. He looked at the balcony longingly.
A hand touched his shoulder, and he looked up. It was his mother.
"We are almost ready. Just come down when they arrive," his mother said.
He nodded and watched his mother walked out of his room. He looked at the balcony again and smiled when he saw feathers floating down to the floor of his balcony. He got up and approached the owner of the feathers. It was a woman.
The woman smiled as her white wings slowly disappeared behind her back. "I'm back, Natsume."
"Welcome back, Mikan." He smiled back and kissed her forehead where her Sakura symbol was while holding her hands.
"Where's my little girl?"
A brown-haired little girl with a pair of crimson eye poked out her small head from Mikan's back.
"I'm back, Otou-sama." The girl grinned.
He opened his arms. The little girl flew to him and hugged him immediately. He patted her little back but stopped as he felt something. It was a pair of little wings.
"Her wings are growing, Natsume," Mikan told him with a smile.
Natsume furrowed his brows. He was still clueless as to why his daughter was an angel when he was a human. He shrugged it off and looked at the little wings. He noticed the color of the wings was gray instead of white. He kissed his daughter's little forehead and stood up. Holding her little hands, he then looked at Mikan, who nodded her head. Together, they went downstairs to meet the rest of the family.
The party went smoothly as everyone celebrated their mistress and young mistress's arrival.
Natsume and Mikan tucked their daughter in her bed.
Mikan kissed her forehead. "Good night, Kisa."
Natsume followed suit.
Kisa smiled. "Good night, Otou-sama, Okaa-sama."
Both of them smiled and watched their daughter sleep.
After Natsume turned off the light, they walked out of the room and went to their own room.
"I don't think so," he replied as he lay down on the bed. He was happy that he got an angel as his daughter-in-law.
"You're such a bad father," Kaoru joked.
"I don't think so."
Kaoru rolled her eyes.
"It's not my fault that our son and daughter didn't notice they are angels themselves."
Fire symbols appeared on both of their foreheads.
Kaoru shook her head, and black wings appeared on her back.
"I will let you tell them when the time comes," Kaoru said as she walked to the balcony.
"I want to have a walk," Kaoru said before spreading her wings and flying away.
He sighed as he followed suit, he would never leave his wife alone for their routine "walk."
"What are you smiling at?" Natsume asked as he snaked his strong arms around her waist.
She leaned her back to his chest. "Nothing, really. Just remembering how you wished for me to stay with you."
Closing her eyes, she pictured how shocked she was when she heard his wish. Strangely enough, their love was accepted by her father, the head of the Land of Angels.
He nibbled her neck slowly.
She tilted her head to let him has his way with her neck.
He started kissing her neck and slowly moved up to her ears.
She shuddered as he huskily whispered, "I want to have you right now."
They both knew how much they missed each other. Since she gave birth to Kisa, she couldn't stay in the Land of Humans for much longer. Kisa needed to be raised as an angel as they knew her daughter was an angel like herself. And since she couldn't leave him for too long, they decided that they would meet once in a month for a week. It was not a long time for normal people but for both of them, it was a very long time considering their love for each other.
When his hand tried to take off her gown, she pushed him away and stepped back.
He smirked as he saw the playfulness in her eyes.
"Remember the magic word, Mister." She grinned, and he grinned back.
He wouldn't admit that he loved her playfulness. He hugged her and whispered into her ears, "I wish."
"…sume…"
"I've been calling you for the past five minutes, but you didn't respond at all."

...xXx...
Natsume stood in front of the glass window and looked down at the people filling the Tokyo streets. Five years after he graduated from Gakuen Alice, he had managed to build an international company for himself. A knock was heard, and he answered it without turning to the door. He heard soft footsteps approach him, and no longer than a minute later, he felt a warm pair of arms around his waist. He didn't bother to pry them off.A head poked out from around his right side. "Are you alright?"

He waited no longer than a minute the interview began.
...xXx...
Natsume glared at the woman. "OUT!"The woman who sat in front of him ran out of the room, crying.
He looked into Mikan's eyes as he spoke, "I wish…"
...xXx...
A few maids were running around the dining room of Natsume's mansion. They all worked carefully and quickly to prepare the welcome party for the night. It was a routine party for the mistress and the young mistress of the mansion that would be coming back tonight. At first they thought that their master had lost his mind when he announced that his wife was an angel named Mikan Sakura. But, after they finally met their master's wife, they finally believed that their mistress was truly an angel.Natsume didn't bother to hide that fact because Mikan had told him that no matter how hard they tried to tell anyone about her, they would forget the thought immediately.
After Natsume turned off the light, they walked out of the room and went to their own room.
...xXx...
Kaoru gazed at her husband. "Do you think we should let them know now?""I don't think so," he replied as he lay down on the bed.
He sighed as he followed suit, he would never leave his wife alone for their routine "walk."
...xXx...
Mikan stared up into the night sky and smiled when she saw a glimpse of her mother-in-law flying away out from the mansion. She knew something that Natsume didn't."What are you smiling at?" Natsume asked as he snaked his strong arms around her waist.
