Last Chance: Chapter 6

#33: Gakuen Alice (Natsume & Mikan)

While driving, he sneaked a glance through the rearview mirror at his silent companion who was sitting in the back. Mikan had refused to sit beside him for unknown reasons. Looking at her slightly pale face, he grew worried. Of course, he had noticed how she started sweating once they were on the main road. "Are you alright, Mikan?"
Her eyes were slightly unfocused as she looked at him. "Yeah, I'm fine. Don't worry."

He asked no more questions and tried to reach their destination as fast as he could. Once he arrived at the parking lot, he turned to look at Mikan and almost gasped at what he saw. Mikan was panting with closed eyes. Without a second thought, he stepped out from the car and went to her side. Cupping her no longer chubby face, he muttered, "Hey… Mikan…"

She did not respond until he called her several times. "Don't worry, Natsume; do whatever you need to finish. I'll be waiting here."

He wanted to get her home and let her rest, but he needed to finish the matter with his wife. Growling at himself, he leaned down to kiss her slightly wet brow and told her, "I'll be back as soon as possible."

However, to his dismay, his wife was late. Tapping his fingers impatiently, he glanced at the clock and refrained from growling. He had been here for an hour. Obviously, that one hour was painfully long when he was worried about Mikan. Damn it! Where the hell is she?

Just when he was about to stand up and leave, his wife finally made her appearance, and of course, she was with his brother Tsubasa. He glanced at his wife. "Sign it now."

Everyone within the room knew Natsume was on edge, and he was ready to snap at anyone who dared to question him. Without being told twice, the lawyer quickly passed the divorce paper to Mrs. Hyuuga, who did what she was told.

As soon as the last paper was signed, Natsume stood up. "Take care of her, Brother."

With that said, he left the office. As he reached the basement, he was practically running to his car. He was a bit relieved to find Mikan no longer as pale as before. Quickly, he went to the driver's seat while saying, "We're going home, Mikan."

He wasn't expecting an answer, so he was stunned when she asked, "Are you alright?"

He should be the one asking her that question! Not wanting to waste any more time, he quickly drove back without answering her question. And once again, Mikan's condition was getting worse along the way. As soon as he reached his house, he quickly gathered her into his arms and placed her in his room. On the outside, he was rather calm, but on the inside, he was panicking like hell. He didn't know what was wrong with her, and he couldn't just call a doctor since she was not even human. Suddenly, he remembered her word.

"What you did last night was what I need to survive in the Lands of Humans."

Sitting at her side, he gazed at her uncertainly before kissing her forehead. Please… Make it work…

A small whimper escaped her lips, and that was when he decided he couldn't hold his emotions any longer. Was he taking advantage of her? He would think about that later. While cupping her cheek, he pressed his lips to hers before moving reverently. When he was about to pull away, she returned his kiss. All coherent thoughts were flying out of the window as he deepened the lip lock. They explored and tasted each other with the same passion. Out of breath, they pulled away, but it was only to start another heated kiss. Once they broke apart for good, he gazed into her chocolate orbs and noticed the color of her face had returned.

"Are you feeling better now?" he asked quietly.

Her eyes were filled with happiness. "Much better. Thank you, Natsume."

Instead of answering her, he embraced her and murmured, "I'm glad to hear that, my beautiful angel."
