Lost & Found: Chapter 17

#35: Gakuen Alice (Natsume & Mikan)

The violet-eyed young woman was her distant cousin Hotaru Imai. After a quick introduction, she left them. Once they were alone, Mikan told him her intentions. Honestly, he did not know why it never crossed his mind that she would request this kind of favour. Looking into her brown eyes, he blankly stated, "Pretend."
Nodding, she gave him a sheepish smile. "Yes. I want you to pretend to be my boyfriend tonight."
A pause. "Why me?"
A soft blush spread across her cheeks as she looked away. "I don't know any other guys…"
He didn't know whether he should be happy or sad at that statement. If she had known other guys, would she still ask him? Didn't she know his feelings? He just kissed her a few hours ago for crying out loud. But, he did fail to tell her that he liked her. He wouldn't mind having her as his real girlfriend, not a temporary one. Making up his mind, he bluntly asked, "Will you be mine?"
She turned to him so quickly that he thought she might have a sprained neck.
"For real," he added.
"For real?" she whispered softly.
"Hn."
A bright smile was her answer.

    The timing of it is perfect... And Mikan's response being the end of the chapter is just wonderful. :)

    This story, I can't leave it. I can't "put it down". OTL It's just so... fascinating. :D
