#02: Detective Conan (Shin'ichi/Conan & Shiho/Ai)

Despite the burning gaze fixated on her, Ai Haibara remained unaffected. Kudō, her best partner, always sent her the same look when he was upset. Still, the attention was kind of annoying. Sighing softly, she closed her magazine and looked up at him. "What is it, Kudō-kun?"
They stared at each other for a long while until he replied, "Do you really hate me, Haibara?"
Slightly taken aback by the unexpected question, she blinked. "Huh?"
"It's about the message you sent to me yesterday."
Yesterday, she got a new phone and wanted to test it out, so she sent a text message to him: Meitantei-san, this is Sherry. XXX
The message was quite short, so what was he upset about? Her eyes widened a bit in realisation. Is he embarrassed about the last part?
Well, she did type that part because she wanted to tease him. She tilted her head. "What about it?"
"Triple 'Not Good.'"
She blinked owlishly at him. Don't tell me he didn't…
A mischievous glint filled her eyes. "Kudō-kun… Don't tell me you don't know what 'X' means?"
Conan scowled at her before frowning. Now that he thought about it, his mother often left this "XXX" in her messages, too. So, what Ran told him was a lie then…
"Close your eyes, Kudō-kun."
He turned to her sharply. "Why?"
She smiled innocently. "I'm going to show you what the meaning of this 'X' is."
Taking a step back, he sputtered, "S-show?"
A soft laugh escaped her lips. He was so easily flustered that it was so cute. Of course, she wouldn't tell him that. His ego was already big enough.
Conan was awed when he heard her soft laughter. He always liked it when she laughed. She looked even more beautiful when she did. Not that he would tell her that. Since the Twin Tower incident, his feelings for her grew. Of course, he still loved Ran, but he loved her only as a friend.
Feeling his eyes on her again, she stopped laughing. "What is it, Kudō-kun?"
"You look beautiful when you laugh," he muttered without thinking.
Both flushed instantly, but his was brighter.
"I-I mean you—"
"Thank you." A soft blush was still on her face.
Even though he was in the same condition, he kept his gaze on her.
"So… can you close your eyes now?"
A look of uneasiness spread across his face. "You won't try anything funny, right?"
She let out a small grin. "Don't tell me you're afraid of me?"
He huffed. "I'm not."
"Close your eyes then. Don't worry; I won't try anything funny, Kudō-kun."
After heaving a low sigh, he closed his eyes. Suddenly, he felt her soft lips against his forehead. He snapped his eyes open as she pulled away. "Wha—"
"One 'X' means one kiss. Since I gave you three, do you want to have the other two now?" she asked with a teasing smile on her lips.
Dumbfounded, he stared at her before grinning. "Sure. But… before you do that, can I call you Shiho from now on?"
She hummed. "I guess I will call you Shin'ichi then…"
His grin grew. "Go ahead."
With that said she leaned towards him and kissed his cheek and lips at last.

ReplyDeleteFirst thoughts, very cute and sweet! It makes me smile, even reflecting upon it now. I like the idea and especially playing off of the wonderful "x". It definitely has the fluff you mentioned :)
ReplyDeleteNow for the more critical side. The very first paragraph was good with descriptions and pretty practical reactions. Of course, this is your story and the reality of the way the original DC characters like to think can be diverted from to have a little fun. My first minor problem is that I doubt she would send the text, but since it's your story, I'll just comment that I doubt she would use "Sherry" in it.
Towards the end of your short, the progression grows a bit too rapidly. Haibara is much more forward than usual, although I like how she started with a kiss to the forehead and not to the lips. Conan's response is pretty OOC and the exchange of calling each other by their first name is a bit fast as well.
Otherwise, good job! I really like how you extended it from those episodes and included Haibara in on it instead of just Ran :)
this is a nice story, except that the characters are pretty out of character. i mean ai just can't suddenly show her feelings to conan because she keep it for herself all this time. and conan just can't suddenly ask for permission to call ai her first name, because that's just something conan won't do IF there is no clear explanation/process to go there. it can be fixed with few more additional plot or explanation or something... just my opinion xoxoxo keep writing

ReplyDeleteWAHAHAHA XD. Conan/Shinichi with his extreme amount of intelligence, logic and knowledge in trivia, is COMPLETELY oblivious to anything with a tint of love in it. Anyways, so cute! I can just IMAGINE the scene playingback in my head. Conan's worried face web he thinks about the "X" and then the embarrassed faces. Vivid description! Love this! :DDD
