Attention

#04: D.Gray-Man (Allen & Lenalee)
...xXx...
Grey eyes scanned the white piano lazily as he waited for his angel to come and join him here for their night lesson before bed. He tried to calm his erratic heartbeat at the prospect of meeting her. They hadn't been able to see each other for a week. To anyone else, it would seem like a short time, but for him, it was like a year. Time was running painfully slow for him. Because they had separate missions, they couldn't see each other so often. She might have become even more beautiful than before…
A small creak of the door alerted him of her arrival. He gazed at her, and his breath caught in his throat. Why? Why was she wearing that? Did she plan to drive him crazy? Tonight, she was wearing a brown, silk camisole with matching knickers. He was really extra sure that she wore nothing underneath her shirt. After biting his own tongue, he tried his best to remain unaffected as he nodded at her approaching figure. "Lenalee."
"Allen." Lenalee smiled at the white-haired exorcist as she made her way towards him. Today, he was wearing a short sleeve, white shirt with black trousers. His attire was quite simple, but handsome all the same. Looking at his kind face, she told herself one more time that she would not fail this time. This time, she would make him do what she wanted. Although she loved his gentlemen side, she desperately needed him. She wouldn't be this crazy if she didn't have this conversation with Lavi two months ago.
"Lenalee!" Lavi called out to her from behind.
Turning around, she smiled. "Lavi. Just came back from a mission?"
Lavi grinned. "A special mission."
She tilted her head slightly. "Special mission?"
He grinned wider. "I just followed Allen to the town. He has a day off, right?"
For some odd reason, she had the feeling that she wouldn't like what he would say.
After getting a nod from her, Lavi leaned closer. "Allen has finally grown up! He's making his move on a woman."
Somehow, she lost her voice, but it was only for a moment. "A woman?"
"The woman is even my type! I can't believe that he actually has a girlfriend and didn't bother to tell us!"
She had opted not to believe Lavi's words, but she couldn't contain her curiosity, which led her to follow Allen secretly last month. She was speechless of what she found. A beautiful blond-haired woman with blue eyes was waiting for him at one of the restaurants. His gesture was what shocked her the most. Never in their time together had she seen Allen hugged someone in greeting. It hurt to breathe when she saw the woman kiss him on the cheek. Allen didn't show any sign of discomfort as they sat down and chatted happily. Unlike their time together, Allen looked so relaxed and peaceful as he talked to the woman.
She, Lenalee Lee, was jealous.
She was so jealous that she felt like pulling Allen away from the woman. How could this happen? It was so unlike her to be jealous until it dawned on her. She liked Allen as more than a friend. His attention was what she craved for. From the beginning, she had wanted to get his undivided attention so that he would only look at her.
Thus, from that day onwards, she had asked him to play the piano for her every night whenever they were free, and just two weeks ago did she convince him to teach her how to play a song. She knew she acted irrationally, but she couldn't help it. She wanted to seduce him until he lost control. Though she had feared he might hate her for doing that, she still wanted him for herself. Yet, to her disappointment, he didn't make a move on her no matter how skimpy her dress was.
However, she was determined to break his control tonight. Like usual, she took a seat beside him. It didn't go unnoticed by her that he suddenly tensed. She hid her smirk as she placed her fingers at the right notes and started to play the first verse of the song.
As soon as she was done, he praised her with a gentle smile, "Well done, Lenalee."
"It's all because of you, Allen. You're a good teacher." She had stopped calling him 'Allen-kun' to give him a hint about her intention, but of course, the white-haired man beside her was too much of a gentleman for his own good. Somehow, she began to doubt herself. Was she not attractive enough? Or maybe she was not feminine enough? As she recalled the blonde woman, she begrudgingly admitted that the woman was far more feminine than her.
"Allen…" His name was uttered without her concern.
"Yes?" he answered as he turned to her.
"Am I not attractive?" She leaned closer to him, and it hurt her when he leaned away from her in return.
"What are you talking about, Lenalee?" He laughed nervously while sweating mentally. "I think Komui-san will never forgive anyone who says you're not attractive."
Her serious face fell after a moment. Is that why he wouldn't touch me? It was because of Nii-san?
Though she could imagine what her nii-san would do to Allen if he did touch her, she still didn't want to give up. She wanted Allen, but…
When she remained still for a long time, Allen began to worry. "Lenalee?"
He waved his hand in front her. "Lenalee, are you alright?"
She caught his hand. Before he could do anything, she placed his hand on her left cheek as she closed her eyes and leaned into his hand.
He would have panicked from such a gesture if he had not noticed her troubled face. "What's wrong, Lenalee? Do you want to talk about it?"
Her eyes snapped open, and she quickly let go of his hand as if it burn her.
"I-I'm sorry. Thanks for teaching me, Allen. I don't think I have talent in music, so you don't have to teach me anymore," she said in one breath. Standing abruptly, she almost dashed out of the room. She had to get away from him.
Too bad for her, Allen was faster and stopped her by blocking the door. "Something's bothering you, Lenalee. Tell me. I'll do anything to help you."
The honesty in his voice almost made her cry. How could she do this to him? Allen was a good man, and she shouldn't force her feelings to him. "I'm alright. It's okay."
However, he didn't buy her lies as a tear had rolled down her face. She truly didn't know why she would cry and in front of him no less.
Before she could wipe them away, Allen brushed them away with his thumb. "You're not very good at lying, Lenalee."
The dam within her broke as she threw herself at him and cried, "I'm so sorry, Allen."
Allen stifled a groan when her upper body pressed against him. This was a torture. However, he quickly brushed away his raging desire as Lenalee didn't need this kind of reaction from him at this moment. Patting her back awkwardly, he whispered, "There, there, everything's alright, Lenalee. I don't find any fault in you, so you don't have to apologise." In my eyes, you're the perfect girl.
After a while she calmed down and pulled away. He helped her wipe away her remaining tears. "Do you want to tell me what's bothering you now?"
A pretty blush coloured her face as she looked away. "I'm just being stupid. That's all."
"Oh?"
"…"
"I'm listening, Lenalee."
She sighed before looking at him shyly. "Do you have a girlfriend, Allen?"
His answer was immediate. "What?"
Confused, she elaborated, "Last month, I saw you with…"
Soon, Allen finally realised whom she was talking about and smiled. "Aaah… You're talking about my sister Jacqueline. Well, she's not my sister by blood. Not long after I learned to use my Innocence, I saved her from an Akuma. Just a few months ago, we met again, so she made me promise that we would stay in touch."
Lenalee covered her red face in her hands. Oh gosh, she felt bad for hating that young woman who turned out to be Allen's sister! How could she explain herself now? She was jealous of his sister for goodness' sake! The more she thought about it, the more embarrassed she became. She refused to look at him when he pulled her hands apart.
"Lenalee?"
She bit her lower lip.
Allen grinned inwardly. All this time, Lenalee was trying to get his attention. Didn't she know that she always had his attention since the beginning? It might have something to do with her being the first female exorcist he had ever known, but his feelings for her were real. He loved her, but of course, he wouldn't tell her that. Komui would definitely hunt him down if he tried anything on his beloved sister. Smiling at her, he softly asked, "Is that the reason why you…"
Her bright blush confirmed his answer.
This might be too bold, but he was itching to touch her. After all, she had been torturing him with her skimpy dress for weeks now. He cupped her face and made her look at him. "If my attention is what you want, you already had it from the moment we met for the first time, Lenalee."
Slowly, she raised her gaze. His declaration was as close as it could get to a love confession. "Really?"
He nodded with a smile before tracing his thumb on her pink lips.
Neither knew who moved first, but the next thing they knew, they were on the white couch, kissing one another to oblivion. Even if the outside world was in war, they didn't care. For now, they let go of their duties and become normal human beings: a man and a woman. He thought her gasps and moans sounded much better than the music he played. Of course, he didn't make any further move other than leaving hickeys on her beautiful body. Making her as his was a good idea, but he didn't intend to rush anything. At the very least, he now knew that he had a future with the woman he loved even though Komui-san would make him suffer afterwards. Looking down at the flustered woman beneath him, he smiled. Lenalee was worth the pain.
The End
Thanks for reading.

  3. I am sad to hear that you will no longer be writing for this fandom, but I wish you the best with your future projects. You are a brilliant writer, and I am glad to have stumbled upon your work.

As always, wonderful work. I'm pretty sure I've mentioned this before, but I must say that I love the way you portray Allen and Lenalee. Their interaction always seems so genuine, a feat that is difficult to accomplish.

  4. This is very nicely done; you have a wonderful writing talent. I'm sad to hear...read...that this will be your last AxL fic but it's understandable when you lose motivation. I hope sometime in the future you will continue to write for this fandom; you are a great contributor :)

  5. Never let a lack of feedback stop you from writing. It never helps anything, something I know from experience. I have been in that position before, but let me tell you, you have a talent in writing for sure. There are a few moments where Lenalee and Allen seem OOC, and I think you could fix that by deepening your writing and going further into their thoughts and emotions. Your imagery is quite good, and I appreciate your style, it is very to the point. Please, keep writing for this fandom, we have a severe lack of good fanfic for this pairing ;)

  6. Great work. A pity that you have stopped writing AlLena stories, though. This is the first of your works that I have read, and I have to say that it is actually very good. Don't do it for the reviews, do it for the pairing itself. Hope you will reconsider.

  10. Honestly your author notes kind of disheartened a first time writer, but I loved the story. Haha Lenalee should have known that the woman was Allen's sis, it's always the sister XD

Anyways I really love your work and remembered reading your Gakuen Alice's stuff till sun rise. A great AllenxLenalee oneshot
